Why Honesty Is Important In A Friendship
Why Honesty Is Important In A Friendship
By: Amber Kao
Honesty is a very important aspect in our life, especially in a friendship. Why? If you’re not honest, no one will welcome you into their group. Everyone will think that you lie and cheat, after you do it once. You will be very unhappy and guilty. (Sometimes you don’t feel bad until you realize that you did something wrong, and then regret it.) You will lose friends gradually, and end up with no friends, so you’ll be alone most of the time. Here are three reasons why you should be honest.

First of all, you won’t be welcomed if you’re not honest. More than a few times, you’ll feel very lonely and sorry for yourself. That is because you have no friends. No one will let you join into their group. You will mostly be the odd one out. You will have to finish everything, even school projects, by yourself. You will get the feeling that nobody likes you, and you’re always excluded.

Another reason is, if you not honest, you won’t be trusted. Even if you say something that’s true, people won’t believe you. That’s because you lied before. (like the “Shepherd Boy and the Wolf”)
Everyone will leave you out of conversations. They’ll think that everything you say is a lie. You’ll have to play or read by yourself . No one will invite you to their activities. That’s why you should never tell lies.

Finally, you won’t be very happy if you’re not honest. Lying leads us to get into trouble. Trying to cover something that you did, you’ll lie again and again. You’ll always be afraid that, sooner or later, people will discover the truth. Afterwards, you’ll feel very unhappy and guilty. Once they know you lie a lot, everyone will start to avoid you. You’ll feel sad that you are the one stayed away from. If you spread rumors, gossip, etc, no one will come near you. Everybody will think that you’re words are mixed up because you heard something wrong, or something like that.

In conclusion, honesty is the best policy. (That quote is by Benjamin Franklin.) You won’t be welcomed if you’re not honest. You also won’t be trusted when you’re not honest. Lastly, you won’t be happy if you’re not honest. If you don’t lie, cheat, and be honest instead, your whole world will be totally different. You will be welcomed, trusted, and happy. You will develop good relationships among your friends. No one likes a friend who is not honest. Just remember, it’s very easy to break someone’s trust, but it’s more difficult to build it back. In the future, please think twice before doing it!

Lies are told around the world multiple times during the day. Everyone sitting in this room has probably once today, said a lie. Sometimes lying is understandable for someone’s protection but sometimes the truth is essential to the person. There are multiple things people say in a day that are seen as lies such as “That outfit looks really good on you!,” “It wasn’t me!” and “I’ll be with you in a few minutes.” Honestly is not always the best policy because in the end it does not make everything better. People tell little lies so that they protect someone they care about and not hurt the feelings of another person. Honesty not always being the best policy is showed in The Scarlet Letter, “Tell All The Truth” poem, the “He Lies” video,…

Yet in reality, these two words have significant difference and effects on people. Alone defines a physical situation when a single person stays separated from others—a situation where people could see. While loneliness represents a mental situation, an emotion that people feel inside, which people could not see from the surface. People can sense happiness when they have time alone. Introverts enjoy spending alone time; also various activities require spending time alone such as reading, writing, and drawing. Even though introverts enjoy spending time alone, they feel every single emotion just like everyone else does, including loneliness. Introverts do not feel alone in a crowd, but they feel lonely, a struggle of depression people cannot…

Some of these causes include lack or loss of a significant relationship, a relationship that could be lacking in quantity or quality, social isolation, depression, and fear of dependency. Fear of dependency includes counting on someone to help with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing and using the bathroom. Often when people are facing different challenges in life like changes in mental, physical health, and the loss of someone can lead to the person feeling socially isolated which can lead to feelings of loneliness. Loneliness has been found to lead to other health consequences like depression, low self-esteem, suicide, alcohol, drug abuse, poor immune system and physical health problems (ElSadr et al., 2009). Why Are Lies Wrong

The debate over the acceptability of lying is a complicated one. Some feel that it is morally wrong and only ever worsens a situation. Others feel that it is acceptable in cases where feelings could be hurt, or if a person’s self-esteem may be lowered. However, there are instances in which lying happens simply to avoid the consequences of a person’s actions, and most would agree that it is morally wrong. Instead of going back and forth between “lying is wrong” and “lying is okay sometimes,” a better use of our time would be learning to improve our honesty with ourselves and with the people around…

We exaggerate, we leave out things, we avoid confrontation, we try to be inconsideration of other people feelings, we conveniently forget some aspects of the truth and even keep secrets. Like most people, I find myself in situations of small falsehoods and still think of my self of an honest person. Sure I lie, but it’s not really bothering anyone or anything.…

“If you tell the truth, you won’t have to remember anything” (Mark Twain). Throughout my life I have come to recognize many truths. Sometimes I would tell the truth and sometimes I would lie, but when I lied I didn’t always get away with it. Although I do lie about some things and get away with it, I still feel bad about doing it. Throughout my life, Algernon and Jack’s false identities, Father Hooper’s sacrifices, Dr. Heidegger’s experiments, Eldorado’s disappointing truth, and Paul’s journey, we are awaken with the truth.…
