Week 7/Journalist E-mail/Alek Talevich

Hey best-friend, Man, I must say that I have been EXTREMELY busy covering these politics because it’s full of false accusations and scandals and I am trying my hardest to be honest and fair. Now my friend what I mean by false accusations and scandals is the media; both printed and social media; have a way of influence the audience into believe what they feel they want them to believe versus how I believe in what we need to be believe and deserve that (to certain circumstances). I’ll go through all that stuff and enlighten you a bit more about what I have learned this past week about it so you aren’t confused. I’m also going to talk about how hard it was to determine whether or not my stories were socially responsible, assessing the credibility of the sites I visited (which was only one really I trusted) and my awareness of how I might influence the public and or other reporters. Well my friend, now that you know what to expect, let’s just dive right into my responsibility of being fair and balance coverage. Once I got here I thought that I was ready and revved up to go, to be the best I can be, but that was not the case. I learned that as a reporter for the visual media I have a time limit, whereas when I was printed media time was not my concern but its own. This means that when it comes down to the wire I have to absolutely let go of my ethics and any moral codes that I may have. Sad but true my friend, this is one thing I did not like about time being against me, but at the same rate it made it very intriguing because I saw exactly how it operates in a professional manner. When I was doing a mock report I had ran out of time and was going to make up an event just for fun. The man in charge had said, “This is the news, never mislead our viewers and never create event, two golden rules or news broadcasting”. So that in a sense made me feel good about keeping my own ethics to an extent. I had asked but I have this

We are all aware of the illnesses that are developing in our community. Obviously, this is not genetic because it is attacking various members of our community and has done personal research to link the illnesses to our surrounding environment. I have found information in which the community should be aware. After extensive research, I have discovered the symptoms are because of the gas company not following proper procedures while digging in our community. I have spent several months coming to the solution and connecting the problem to the gas company. I first expecting it was something in the water because it seems to be affecting more people in neighborhoods closer to the drilling sites. I am afraid to inform everyone that it will be in all our drinking water before soon.…

The increased amount of news broadcasts and social media being used by our government to force feed us with fake information, has lead for our entire nation to be at a loss of whether or not we can ever trust our elected officials, and their administration again. In light of Donald Trump’s new presidency, many have learned that our government is not forced to tell the “truth,” and as Donald Trump so commonly does, can tell their own constructed “truth.” We have seen this constructed truth thrust upon us so many times, by Trump and his administration, over the frivolous and the important. If live you in America, or are interested in American politics, you most likely have seen the terms “fake news” and “alternate facts.” These terms come straight…

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a diagnoses for individual with a group of complex disorders of brain development. This disorder is characterized in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 1 in 68 children are diagnosed as being on the spectrum, with boys being four to five times more likely to be diagnosed with autism than girls. As there is no cure for autism, research is on-going to help children and families to decrease the negative effects autism has on those with the diagnoses and this includes studies on medications. In the article, Cognitive Effects of Risperidone in Children with Autism and Irritable Behavior, the effects of the popular drug Risperidone is tested on children on the autism spectrum who also have irritable behaviors, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or disruptive behavior disorders. The focus is on what question the authors are trying to answer by doing this research and what hypothesis is being tested and the concepts that were applied in this process. Other important aspects of this study include the statistical analysis employed in this studies, the variables used and the possibility more and/or different variables may have been used to enhance the outcome of the study. As with any statistical research study, there are going to be limitations. Critical thinking is the skill to apply reasoning and logic to fresh or unused ideas, views, and conditions. Thinking critically includes seeing stuffs in an open-minded manner and observing an idea or concept from as many approaches as likely. This essential skill lets people stare past their individual interpretations of the world and to improve and realize the views of others. It is frequently used in discussions, to procedure additional cogent and well-rounded arguments, and in science. The skill to think critically is essential, as it generates new opportunities in problem solving. Being "open-minded" is a huge portion of critical thinking, permitting an individual to not simply search for out all likely answers to a problem, but to as well accept an response that is diverse from what was initially expected. Open-minded thinking needs that a individual does not take responsibility that his or her method of approaching a circumstances is always best, or even right. Critical thinking is well-defined as reasonable, reflective, responsible, and skillful thinking that is fixated on determining what to have confidence in or do. Critical thinking is analytical thinking. This sort of thinking takes complications away from each other fundamentally and down to their origins, in order to solve the problems. Critical thinking is not a matter of gathering information. An individual with a respectable memory and who recognizes a lot of facts is not automatically good at critical thinking. A critical thinker is capable to deduce concerns from what he identifies, and he recognizes how to create the use of information to answer problems, and to search for related sources of information to advise him.…

“If Hillary Clinton were president then it wouldn’t have happened… She could have fixed this”. It was 4:00 pm, and I was watching CNN because I wanted to learn what the president was doing in office. I was shocked because CNN was turning everything into a way to get back at Trump for winning the election against Hillary Clinton. I switched the channel to Fox News and they were talking about the same thing except no remarks, only the information. This got me thinking about which news sources are bias. That's when I stumbled across the website Project Veritas, it talked about the bias and corruption in major news sources, that was the information I needed to see, and you do too, stay tuned because this undercover news could finally expose the…

Visiting Rutgers University on November 5th, 2013 was definitely a great experience as well as an eye opener for me. From touring the different campus, getting an inside look in one of the Residence Halls and actually sitting and eating lunch in a setting filled with actual college students, the experience was surreal. Visiting Rutgers motivated me to seek better for myself so that hopefully I can attend there or somewhere like it. With that said, there are many factors that come in to play when considering me being able to go to Rutgers University.…
