Valentines: Roman Empire and Valentine
Informative Speech: Valentine’s Day General Purpose: To inform Specific Purpose: To inform about the custom of Valentine’s Day Thesis Statement: In this speech I will inform my audience about the custom of Valentine’s Day through the origin and Roman stories associated with this Hallmark holiday.
INTRODUCTION
Attention Material: All you need is love. All you need is love. All you need is love, love. Love is all you need. The Origin of Valentine’s Day is based on controversy of three Roman tales of love and romance combined together along with the create mind of Geoffrey Chaucer Thesis Statement: In this speech I will inform my audience about the origin and Roman stories associated with Valentine’s Day. Preview Points: Today I will discuss the custom of Valentine’s Day by discussing three Roman stories and myths surrounding this Hallmark holiday. Audience Speaker Topic Relation: Love can be shown in many ways whether you express your love with dollar signs are kind words, the point is love is expressed. The true importance of Valentine’s Day is to let your love ones know you care.

BODY
I. Origin of Valentine’s Day Story One The first story suggests that the Roman Emperor Claudius II deprived his soldiers of the right to be married, believing that soldiers who married were weak and unreliable.

(The second story contains a degree of myth and mystique.)

II. Origin of Valentine’s Day Story Two It depicts Valentine in prison as he awaits his execution for his defiance of Claudius II.

(A third story describes how Roman sons and daughters were kept separated in youth.)

III. Origin of Valentine’s Day Story Three Roman boys and girls were kept apart except when in their teenage years, they were allowed to participate in the festival of Lupercalia.
