What is the United Nations

The United Nation is an international organization whose stated aims include promoting and facilitating cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, civil rights, civil liberties, political freedoms, democracy, and the achievement of lasting world peace. The UN was founded in 1945 after World War II to replace the League of Nations, to stop wars between countries, and to provide a platform for dialogue. It contains multiple subsidiary organizations to carry out its missions.

Function of the United Nations * Discuss any question relating to international peace and security and except where a dispute or situation is currently being * Make recommendations for the peaceful settlement of any situation that might impair friendly relations among nations * Consider and approve the United Nations budget and establish the financial assessments of Member States

Headquarter of the United Nations
The headquarters of the United Nations is a complex in New York City. The complex has served as the official headquarters of the United Nations since its completion in 1952. It is located in the Turtle Bay neighborhood of the borough of Manhattan, on spacious grounds overlooking the East River.
The United Nations has three additional, subsidiary, regional headquarters or headquarter districts. These are located in Geneva (Switzerland),Vienna (Austria), and Nairobi (Kenya).
