Turkish Airlines strives to be an airline, which is not only capable to adapt to the future, but we are aiming to lead the future as well.
4. Will you add new destinations in 2018?
We have added 5 new lines in 2017 and we are planning to open new lines such as Ouagadougou-Freetown, Samarkand, and Aqaba in 2018. We will mainly focus on the transition to Istanbul New Airport in 2018. Hence, Turkish Airlines, the airline that flies to the most countries in the world, will continue to serve its guests by expanding its flight network in 2018.
5. What does aviation mean to you? When did you first meet the plane? Have you ever had a fear of flying?
I think it would be unfair for this discipline if we evaluate the aviation as an ordinary sector or business line. Aviation is not a sustainable business if the person performs it without passion. As many people believe, you can't succeed in aviation unless you have a strong passion for it. I have always loved to fly, I can't think of one time where I have not been excited to board an airliner, even for a 12 hour flight returning from a perfect vacation in Alaska! Everything about flying appeals to my senses; the pressure sensation on my back as the aircraft barrels down the runway and lifts off, the jet engine spooling noises during takeoff, and even the distinctive jet fuel scent that fills the cabin when the turbofans are being started are just a few examples. I also love everything about an aircraft itself; the appearance, and instruments, controls and systems that successfully drive the aircraft increase my interest in airliners. All of these aspects about aviation further strengthen my desire to become a pilot. When watching aviation videos online, the sounds of the flight deck together with the sounds of the engines while the pilot lands the aircraft perfectly all combine together into one strong feeling of awe that takes over my mind. I really love everything about flying and airliners, and want to operate them for my…

By focusing on business class Turkish Airlines can convert economy class customers into business class customers and increase its profitability. As it can be seen in exhibit 2, the total passengers travelled has reached to a saturation point in 2008. Therefore, trying to convert existing economy class costumers to business class customers is a better and more profitable idea than trying to increase the number of economy class passengers. In addition to that, when exhibit 3 is examined, it can be seen that the increase in the number of business passengers has a minor effect on the number of total passengers of Turkish Airlines. Hence, there is a growth potential in business class. Their marketing and advertisement efforts like special agreements making the airline the official carrier of well-known and successful football teams and sports people are also in parallel with this strategy. Moreover, one of the strategic goals of THY is to enhance its service level to a 5-star level. When we look at the comparison of SKYTRAX rankings of Turkish Airlines and Singapore Airlines, it can be concluded that improvements in the business class may lead THY to a 5-star level. Furthermore, by having new planes that have a separate business class Turkish Airlines has a competitive advantage compared to European competitors. Hence, focusing on business class will also serve to the airlines goal of reaching Europe’s top full-service spot,…
