I do believe that we are closer to artificial intelligence; however, I do not believe it can be done with singularity. I feel like there will always have to be a human behind every Ibot, robot, x-box, or any combination in between. Just like they are saying we can send a rocket into space without astronauts, which I am sure, is possible with the help of humans here on earth telling it what to do. I just do not think that technology will ever outgrow our mind power; after all it started with us in the beginning. I think humanity will be better off without the passing of singularity. It sounds scary, almost like we would lose our rights because we now have something bigger than us that are making the decisions. I am sure there would be some benefits that we could enjoy as long as it stayed in the gaming world or computer aps and things like that. I do not know for sure if we would ever have any worries about a system like HAL, in the movie mentioned, that is just a little out of my interest, science fiction is not an interest of mine so basically your guess is as good as mine. There will always be ethical implications with whatever we do, because of all the different mind sets and beliefs that not just the United States has but the World.…

Presnky, in his infamous article “Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants,” coined the notion that the youth are digital natives and the older generation digital immigrants. But I am not sure I agree. I know many teenagers who can download movies, post to Facebook, find a YouTube video, and more, but the minute they need to learn something there is a lack of knowledge. Am I wrong here? What would the author of the textbook say? Explain.…

As we enter the 21st century, computers are influencing ways of teaching and learning, as access to computers in schools is becoming more widespread and varied. Their use enables the learner to develop at his or her own pace and makes the whole learning process more flexible. In a teaching mode, computers provide a wide variety of information and practice material. They can also play a testing role in a range of subjects including Maths, English and Modern Languages. The one-to-one interaction students have with the computer, along with the immediate response to their answers, help to promote independent learning.…

Surprisingly, there has been little formal research effort aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the computer literacy requirement within academic settings. We do not know, for example, if students who have satisfied the requirement necessarily perform better than those who do not yet meet the requirement. Students may also question the validity of the requirement as a prerequisite for other courses. The problem appears to be twofold. First, there is no universal definition of what constitutes computer literacy (Jones & Pearson, 1996). As a result, we design our evaluative criteria based largely on individual judgments and group consensus. Second, we do not fully understand the process by which students' technology skills influence their academic performance and, ultimately, their job performance. Consequently, it is difficult to determine what specific performance indicators are most closely…
