I honestly believe that being a ploice officer is very hard. There are some positives and negatives to it. It is obvious that we are all human and make multiple mistakes, and at times we do not agree on the selection of choices that ploice officers use upon the people. Some of the positives are that police officers have the right of arrresting someone who is using illgeal behavior. For an example, say you are at a plaza walking around with your friends, and suddenly you see someone had too much to drink and they are causing a sence; to which you can't avoid or control the persons actions, you will have to call the police and they will settle the situation so it doesn't lead to breaking a law. A negative discretionary decision, would be the…

I feel that I am qualified to be an officer because I was a member, Vice-President, and then President of my high school’s volunteer club (Interact Club). I went to a small, Christian private school, and the club was student-lead with minimal help from our two faculty sponsors. The Interact Club was my greatest achievement in high school. Before my Secretary, and then Vice President and I came into office, even at our small school, many students, teachers and faculty were unaware of what Interact was and what we did in the community. We brought a new aura, publicity, worked exclusively with our Head of School, designed brand new t-shirts, brought in a new executive board, financial sponsors, and hosted our school’s very first talent show where…

The first perspective is changes in personnel have changed nothing. Basically the officer is shaped by the job rather than the officer shaping the job. The second perspective is do these personnel changes have an effect on competency of officers, police community relations, and the effect of the police organization. Sklansky concluded that in general there is no research evidence to suggest that minority officers differ in behavior from non-minority. He noted that culture within the organization and socialization overrides any effect that officers may have.…

Onetime one of my supervisors told me I needed to stop being so direct or blunt when asked for information from Superior officers. I did not respond to his criticism very well at all. I have always believed that you need let people know the truth up front. Even though the response may not be popular or well received, at least they have the facts. The supervisor was explaining to me that he believed that I should be telling them what they wanted to hear and my military career could suffer if I did not start acting as he did. I took great offense to the criticism and advice he was trying to give. I do not think for a minute that my response in anyway improved the situation and actually made it worse. If I had tried to understand, why he…

Individuals can bring different personalities to the table and it may or can affect the team simply because there can be a person with strong personalities and one with weaker ones. For example, there can be an individual who is well you can say in charge of everything, that person is always doing the work and giving their opinions and there can be another one who is quiet and just sits there and does their work. The in charge person might think that the quiet person isn’t doing anything and is not helping the team at all, while the quiet person might be thinking that the in charge person is bossy and doesn’t care about what the other team wants to do. A good way to solve this would be to communicate with each other by the quiet person being in charge of gathering the information together and preparing the work for the team while the in charge person is in charge of the other stuff that involves sharing the information and talking to each team member to see what they think I don’t know that’s my opinion.…
