The Fine Arts Education
The Fine Arts is all around you on a daily basis. We've adapted to the musical sound all around us that sometimes we don't realize there is a song playing. Now the term music can be defined in many different ways. Anywhere from different styles of music to different time periods of music like Jazz or Classical Rock.
Art programs are able to reach students that are not normally reached and also increase better attendance and grades among the students. "In 1995, SAT scores for students who studied the arts more than four years were 59 points higher on the verbal and 44 points higher on the math portion than students with no course work or experience in the arts" (Eisner NP). Rupert states that "A May 2005 Harris Poll on the attitudes of Americans toward arts education, commissioned by Americans for the Arts, revealed strong public support. 83% agree an arts education encourages and assists in the improvement of a child’s attitudes toward school. 79% believe that arts education helps teach children to communicate effectively with adults and peers. 86% agree incorporating the arts into education is the first step in adding back what’s missing in public education today. 79% rated the importance of arts education a “ten” on a scale of one to ten. 54% believe that it’s important enough for them to get personally involved in increasing the amount and quality of arts education" (Rupert NP).
