The evolution of Technology
Everyday, the average teenager spends over eight hours looking at a screen. Now, one may say that's completely insane, but others may beg to differ. In some ways, looking at a screen may not be all that bad. Looking at a screen doesn't just mean watching tv or playing video games. For example, in Southampton High School, most students will be looking at a screen almost all day long, because their district supplies them with iPads. There shouldn't be any games on them, they are mainly used for educational purposes. Kids are connected to the internet this way. The way technology is evolving using the internet on their iPads is part of their everyday routine. They will be a lot more educated than kids growing up without internet because they will have been connected to a lot more information and resources through the web. Kids without internet could be affected later on in life when they are applying for colleges, or looking for jobs. They will not be up to date with how our world is using the internet and that will be a problem for them in the future. Kids growing up without internet won't be as educated as kids growing up with internet. They'll be less connected to social media and less connected to the knowledge that roams throughout the web. Books that are in library's aren't as up to date as the internet is. One can search the web and find what they are looking for within a matter of seconds. On the other hand, searching through a library or book store isn't as fast. When kids are growing up without the internet they aren't as connected to the world socially. One may argue that newspapers are a way of connecting with the world. Yes, that's true, but can a newspaper inform someone on something that happens, as soon as it has happened? No, but the web can. By the time books or newspapers are released to the public the information is yesterday's news. Someone may argue that television is a way to be connected to the world but is it really? The tv

Students have a lot of pressure when it comes to homework and how much they count toward our grades. So when it comes to needing help the internet has helped us because its hard to do it on our own.In the article "Education 2.0: Never memorizing again" the text says "It is enough that they know about the Battle of Hastings, without having to memorize that it was in 1066. They can look that up and position it in history with a click on Google,” he said." Not every student can memorize everything as if it was programmed into our mind as a teacher taught it to us. With the internet the little things we forget it gives us many sources and information that become useful to us. Some may argue that technology is dangerous and causes issues. In which in the article" Attached to technology and paying a price" it says" The resulting distractions can have deadly consequences, as when cellphone-wielding drivers and train engineers cause wrecks. " In which has been and is still a huge problem ,But instead of taking away technology in which can help us but instead just teach teenagers the benefits of technology and to not use it unwisely. The Internet and other forms of technology have been involved in the reformation of our lives. The article, "Is Google Making Us Stupid," by Nicholas Carr primarily focuses on the influence of the internet on our thinking behaviors, while in the article "Another Look Back, and a Look Ahead," by Edward Tenner mainly focuses on advances and setbacks of that go hand in hand with technology. In the modern world, technology has been an extremely vital well of knowledge that contributes to our lives. The internet includes all sorts of information on all topics one can think of. It allows for us to answer all of our questions with a very simple steps. Even though the internet and technology are undeniably important assets of the modern world, people should rely more on their skills rather than relying on technology for all their necessities. The ability to socialize with others is more important than the internet. It is the basis of our lives and the only method of communication between human beings. There have been more cases of social awkwardness than ever before, and it is believed to be connected with the internet. Simply sitting down in front of a monitor and searching for all that we need isolates us from those around us and takes away some of our social abilities, thus making it harder and more awkward to get back into society.…

Technology seems to be making a huge impact on our lives every day. The internet has everything you need to know and more. There’s search engines that can help you do your shopping, there’s games, there’s chat rooms and also recourses to help yourself out in schooling needs. However I do see how it has been taking over our world. In the story “Y2K CHATRM43” Adrein talks about how Joel spends way to much time on the computer and thinks it’s useless, however Joel sees it differently. In this story I agree with Joel, there’s so much to do on the Internet, it can be very helpful for social needs and for schooling needs. Chat groups can be used to help you out in school. Having that can help you out with understanding school work and what not. The internet is also helpful with school because teachers can put the assignments online so we can access them. Online books help out a lot also instead of having to carry that huge text book home you’ve got it all right there in front of you online. Another reason I feel as if the internet is very useful is because there’s videos online that explain school work and certain subjects. If your teacher doesn’t explain the assignment good enough for you, theres online videos that can help you get a better understanding. They say in the future all schooling will be online, all kids will have their own computers to do their work and there won’t be teacher lectures anymore! What will the future bring?…

The 21st century is a remarkable time where everything is changing from tradition to technology. This has a profound effect on our youth and will have a greater effect on future generations. These times will shape the future generations for either a technology-reliant generation or shape and mold the future of tradition. The effect of young people having technology is overly apparent to teachers and their parents. Their kids get bored with things they loved to do as kids. The difference is they have television and many other technologies growing up that have shaped their minds into being entertained. If they are not they will ignore, throw fits or simply not learn from the experience. Neil Postman warns in his book Amusing Ourselves to Death that education presented as entertainment undermines tradition. Traditions like learning from your teacher instead of an online application. Traditions like learning from the outside world around you by exploring it instead of digitally exploring the internet. Today teachers are attempting to turn technology into learning devices but much like Postman’s “rear-view mirror thinking”, the iPad and related devices are used for entertainment. The impact technologies like the iPad and iPod and introducing video games for “educational benefit” are not helping them socially, emotionally or educationally as much as harming them.…

In today’s society, our century’s technology isn’t being taken to its advantage the way past generations would have used it for. According to “The dumbest Generation” Mark Bauerlin says “Young Americans have much more access and education than their parents did” (Source A). When our parents were our age, the use of internet or technology something they could rely on. They had to learn at school the hard way. To do research, they probably had to go through books to get their background knowledge. To do a math problem, it had to be done all on paper without the use of a calculator. To simply look up how do to a certain task, YouTube or the internet wouldn’t be available to them. Now, a child has these opportunities to their advantages, but are they being used for education purposes? No because chances are they’re busy on the…

Societies all over the world managed to master these technologies and make the best out of them and so far one could argue they have been successful. However one cannot deny that downsides do exist. People today are unable to extract themselves from the internet and all the technologies that come along with it. The Internet is definitely a complex tool, a tool that has ultimately changed the world and its population. The entire world is rapidly becoming obsessed with it and dependent on it. Technology has changed dramatically though time, for the better, and for the worst. When the first phone was made, it wasn't made for moving around. But then as the phone evolved, it was made about the size of a brick, but it was portable. Then it kept getting smaller and smaller. Now it has gotten bigger, but thinner. One drop and the whole phone could smash. I don’t know why people would want a phone like that?…

Technology has grown so much over the years and you can do so much with it now. You can read books, shop, and play games without having to be in contact with others. This limitation of human contact has had a negative effect on people's lives. The reason why it has negative effects on people's lives is because some people never get that fresh air anymore and some people do not know how to act around others. Since technology has grown, several people are less likely to leave their houses. Those people who get so caught up in the Internet world never want to leave their homes and go out into the real world. In our generation, children would rather play video games than go outside and ride bikes. It is not all children that do this but it is most of the children and…
