An Assessment of Constantine

I found the movie Constantine to be the most interesting film to analyze and discuss. From start to finish, there is so much meaning within every element of the film. Every time I watch this film, I thoroughly enjoy it. I have known this movie to be a symbolic message to the audience of, why religion, being a good person, and God is so important to humanity. Everything from the theme, the cast, the setting/location, costume design, makeup, special effects, and the directors overall ambition is absolutely incredible. This film has a very creative and unique approach to discussing the good

There is a profound essence of self sacrifice, beliefs, and symbolic patterns within the plot. As I evaluated the film, I found that it definitely had several moral statements that would “persuade us to apply the principles in our own lives.” (Boggs & Petrie, p 17) I perceived this to be a concept of, stay true to your beliefs, humanity, and moral obligations. I also found the overall film along with the characters to incorporate social problems and the truth of human nature. “Because those characters are representative of humanity in general, they serve as a cinematic vehicle to illustrate some widely or universal acceptable truth about human nature”. (Boggs & Petrie, p …show more content…
The scenes projected wide angels, slow motion, and special lighting. The scene I previously described to be ultimate sacrifice was obviously the ending. It was perfect and was my favorite scene within the film.

I found at times the characters were pale, sick looking, dead, or possessed. Depending on the scene and which world the scene fell into, the lighting and musical score was dark, dusty, dim, or bright, colorful, and inviting. The overall color contrast in this film was very effective as well.

This film had many aspects of what some might say to be fictional elements as far as the characters and props. But I enjoyed some of the props that were utilized as well: holy water, dragon breath flame thrower, shotgun crafted from and a crucifix. I must say this movie had a dramatic and creative flair to it. After watching this film and ultimately breaking down all of its elements. I feel so much closer to my goals as a religious, spiritual, and

However accuracy of the subject speaking historically was moderate with some discrepancies. Actions of the characters in this film were portrayed properly like Pontius Pilate or Herod. Almost all of the characters were historically accurate. The themes in this film such as the crucifixion or the roman control would describe the time period that it happened. This film was bias towards the Christians and rarely took any approach to talk about the Jewish views. Gospels and the bible can be coincided with the film making it a reliable source. This film however did dramatize the actions and attitude of Jesus in my…

The first Character that I will be discussing is Joe, who throughout the movie was “living out” the philosophies of Immanuel Kant. In one scene of the movie Joe demonstrates the Categorical Imperative. He acted as he would want others to act if they were in his situation. In this scene many people came to Joe asking for something to build a fire, in order for them to eat. Joe had, then went up to the room he was staying in, grabbed the bed frame, dresser an wood he could find and helped the people build the fire for their food. Joe’s actions are morally good because they were done or the sake of duty. The reason he went there was because he wanted to make a change and help people. Joe throughout the movie had shown humility, even though he knew he was better off than them, he still helped them no matter what. In the end the suffering was too much for him and had left with the UN.…

people, It has to be something they can 't do themselves, and I do it for them, they do for three other people. This movie gives us a fictional, yet highly symbolic example of this power of self-sacrificing love and how humanity could be changed by the thought patterns of mankind. A simple change in the thought pattern of one person did, in all actuality, change the world. It 's not ironic, nor coincidental, that this movie has significant Biblical parallels and symbolism. This writer will delve into the archetypes and protagonist symbolism as well as the religious symbolism and biblical parallels in this film.…

This movie appealed to me because of the plot with God being mad at humanity and that one soul could save everyone. It shows me that even though there are bad people in the world do not just get mad and say I do not care because there is still good people out there. In fact one of my favorite quotes from the movie was when Jeep asked the angel Michael “why didn’t you lose faith,” he said “I have watched you people wage in war but in the midst of all this darkness, I see some people who will not give up even though they know all hope is lost.” He finishes by saying “some realizes that being lost is so close to being found.” I chose that quote as my favorite because it is so true. For example if you look at our history, you will notice that when there is a decline there is always an increase.…

But from where i started at 8:00 a.m and its now 2:00 p.m. I have learned a lot that i would have no clue of without this video. Not big events themselves but the such important little details that can make your opinion change so easily and quickly. For example i did not completely understand the birth of jesus but six hours later i feel like a professor that knows a lot about Jesus who didn't know jack diddly (Nothing) the other day. The movie also gave me a much better understanding of the other people that where back then that a critical role with Jesus. The movie also gave more details about events as such The Visitation, Annunciation and The Baptism Of Jesus. That is about all that I didn't know that I know know.…

The movie is packed with the right doses of action, adventure, and comedy. The movie is definitely, not in any way, boring. It is the kind of movie where you would really be focused on and where you wouldn’t want to lose sight of. The story is not purely fictional. And that’s what I love about this movie, about its book. It does not just give entertainment; it also gives knowledge and understanding to people. It also is one way for people to remember and give importance to history.…

Ever since the invention of motion pictures, movie industry has been organized as a business. As such, history of motion pictures represents an economic institution structured to maximize profits (Austin 3). Notably, the impression created by viewers when watching motion pictures is such that movies are acted in a single day or several days. In reality, shooting of movies can take up to one year or more. The movie industry has come a long way. Before it was possible to let pictures move, people had been trying to come up with movement illusions. This was possible with the use of slide shows, which were made up of lanterns. These lanterns used to function as early slide projectors. In the 19th century, magic lantern shows entertained huge gatherings that comprised of the elites, business individuals, and the entrepreneurs. During this time, the shows were considered as marvels. It should be noted that the first ever cinema in the USA was in 1905. This cinema had a seating capacity of 96 people. Since then, the movie industry has evolved and improved with the invention of new technologies. Ever since their inventions, movies have always been used for educational, learning, and political purposes. This paper seeks to trace the inception of movies and highlight its development in history.…

Divine providence was that one thing I remember most about this movie. To be able to leave everything to Him for I know that He already has my life planned out for me. Having self-sacrifice in order to pave way for the comfort of others will bring me not only god’s mercy but self contentment as well. I was able to realize that most things in this world is temporary and that the best thing I could do is to leave it to someone who is capable of controlling this things to guide me throughout life. Saint Dominic was such inspiration, really. And I look forward to seeing more of him and his story in the…
