Describe the consequences of technology for students’ learning styles

In the developed world it is hard to imagine life without technologies. Technology is becoming a crucial part of teaching and learning. Moreover, it is integrating into the curriculum in schools and universities. This essay will describe the significance of technologies for students’ learning styles. There are several reasons to use technologies in schools and universities. Firstly, technology should be integrated to encourage and extend students’ learning constantly. Secondly, using it allows students to find out, research, and act efficiently. Students who use technology have an active role because they are not just receiver of ready-made information. Thirdly, students have the possibility to learn in their individual learning style with support appropriate technologies.
According to the concept of learning styles, there are three main learning styles such as visual, auditory and kinaesthetic. Each type has its particular traits and therefore implies certain learning activities. Visual learners perceive new knowledge or information by seeing information and keeping it in mind. Auditory learners, conversely, learn best by listening and talking. In turn, kinaesthetic learners are better with hands-on activities and they prefer to learn throw self-experience. Consequently, teachers should use different types of technologies to help each student to learn in the most appropriate way. For example, software programmes allow to create visuals such as diagrams, schemes or pictures to help visual learners. Recordings and video can be used as a tool for auditory learners. Game-based learning activities are more efficient for kinaesthetic learners. There are many software programmes and websites which suggest different activities for each type of learners.
