Teachers Day
Hello I am Mrs. Harpreet Maini and it is a huge honor for me to be here talking to all of you on teachers day. I was also a teacher; the principal in fact of Guru Harkrishan Public school in the past but otherwise a history teacher. On this day we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Savepalli Radhakrishnan, a profound philosopher, statesman and educationalist. Dr. Radhakrishnan said that he would like his birthday to be celebrated only once and decided that it would be called Teachers Day. This request showed his love for the profession. From then onwards every year 5th September is celebrated as teacher’s day.
We must make use of this day to thank teachers for inspiring us to be good students and then molding us into mature adults. They have cultivated chalk and poured out a lot of sweat. We must remember also that teachers are people just like us and have to face many other problems and stress in life. This special quote describes our teachers: “A good teacher is like a candle-it consumes itself to light the way for others”This means that we should try to express our gratitude to them at all times. We can show our gratitude by working hard and listening to them.
However this day is not only a celebration day. It is a reminder for all teachers to follow in the steps of Dr. Radhakrishnan. Teachers are one of the most important people in the country. They should not only work for the money, they should work for the students because the whole country’s future lies in their hands. I know this because of my teaching experience.
Finally I would like to thank the school for having me here and giving me this opportunity today.

thank you

“Grabe, sobrang terror ni Sir! Lalo na yung si Madam sa isang subject ko! Hay!” phrase that somehow bugs me out knowing that teachers only do their jobs to help their students. They are there to guide us on our studies and not to mislead us to the wrong path. No teacher wanted her/his student to be in the wrong direction, right? That’s why we are celebrating teachers’ day to commemorate how patient they are in teaching the knowledge they have that we students need inside and outside the school. Let us give time to our dear teachers to relax once and make them feel how special they are as a mentor.…

Nowadays, when it comes to Teachers’ Day, people differ greatly in their attitudes towards the problem of giving gifts to teachers. Some maintain that giving presents to teachers is a sound way to express gratitude and respect of students and parents. Others, on the contrary, hold the point that presents make the significance of Teachers’ Day distorted. Someone even claims that Teachers’ Day has totally become Gift-giving Day. Although it seems a little extravagant, I agree that expensive presents should be forbidden on Teachers’ Day because it would exert bad influences on the following three aspects.…
