South Atlanta Persuasive Speech
Being Miss South Atlanta is not just a title in my opinion, it is something I have desired to become throughout my few years of high school. I have been a student attending South Atlanta High School since August 2014. School spirit was just something my school lacked. Last year, happened to be the first year I truly enjoyed homecoming, and as I stated I have been here since 2014. If I am elected Miss South Atlanta I will work with SGA and 12th grade Student Body in order to mark 2018 a year to remember. As I have fully analyzed the problem here at South Atlanta High School, I came to a conclusion that we aren’t quite a “decent” family yet. As a “decent” family I imply we don’t have enough events together or support one another. We should love …show more content…
I suggest we have not only senior week but also under classmen should have a week too. I once was an underclassmen and watching senior week only made me want to rush to become a senior and graduate, because that was one of the best weeks of high school. This will create both grade level competition and entertainment. Secondly, I will suggest to the Dr. Ford and SGA that our school should have a holiday. On this holiday we should learn more about our school’s history and come together as a family in order to enjoy this one day, like a family reunion. This gives not only the students something to look forward to but also the faculty and staff. Lastly, I will propose having a community event, such as a community carnival. Having an event like this not only brings our school together but also our cluster and community. In order to get most of the students involved we will give community service hours to each student that participates in creating a booth. The grade level that raises the most money can have a reward. Being Miss South Atlanta is a difficult job to take on, but it is something I am willing to do in order to make my school a better place for spirit, family, and

I disagree with California Ban on the word ‘Redskins.” I disagree because Native Americans are the only one making it a bad name. No one else is using Redskins in a bad way or even thinks of it in a bad way. All reskins means is that someone skin has a red tint. It’s names of many schools and some famous sports teams and they shouldn’t have to change their name because Native Americans think of it in a bad way. Everyone who has had to change their name because of California ban should get to change it back. Schools and sorts teams now have to change their mascot, their name and if it’s a school they might even have to change their company. I disagree with California’s ban and I’m sticking with that.…

My family is visiting Philadelphia over Presidents Day Weekend. My mom and I are planning on driving up to Princeton on Sunday (February 19th) to visit the campus. I was wondering if would be possible to not only visit the campus, but also see the swimming facilities to determine if Princeton would be a good fit for me. I hope your season is winding up well! Let me know if that is a possibility!…

After going over everything on the agenda, our Link Crew coordinator announced we had something we needed to celebrate. She read a letter from one of our guidance counselors at the school. In the letter she described how a parent emailed her a few weeks before school started to tell her that her daughter has anxiety when it comes to new beginnings. She said her daughter stayed home from school her first week of middle school because she was so nervous. However, her first day of high school was a magical experience for her. The parent explained how her daughter was bouncing in her seat at the dinner table describing what a great day she had. Our Link Crew director announced whose group she was in, and sure enough, it was…

FFA holds a special place in my heart and to be able to serve the members of our organization caused me to make the decision of running for state officer. Each day I have the chance to share my love and passion for this organization locally, but the thought of possibly being able to share it with the state for an entire year, to kids just like me, sold me in on the idea. The passion I have and want to instill in others will always be something that will never be truly understood.…

In the future, I will volunteer as an adult Girl Scouts and assist with local troops, become a troop leader, or hold any other position within the Girl Scout council. Furthermore, I will also become a Girl Scout Gold Award mentor. I yearn to play an essential role in helping girls earn the highest award in Girl Scouting. My Gold Award mentor played a vital role in helping me with my project and I desire to provide the same support to other girls. As a woman who earned her Gold Award, I would truly comprehend how difficult it can be to devise a project idea and enact a project, which is sustainable and satisfies requirements. Additionally, if I have any daughters, they will be involved in Girl Scouts. I would become the “leader” of their troop, although the girls will actually run the troop. In all, throughout college, my career, and within my own family, and in Girl Scouts, I will continue to lead with courage, confidence, and character. Becoming an adult volunteer, Gold Award mentor, and/or troop leader, will allow me to give back to Girl Scouts, an organization which has instilled in me crucial skills, which I am forever…

PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…

How many of you know some people that drink alcohol. Well for me most of the people I know get drunk every day of the week. It doesn’t matter if they were hungry and they were down to their last three dollars, they would still choose to get a beer. Drinking alcohol looks like it almost took over the world but we still have a chance to stop it. All we have to do is make it illegal to use and purchase the liquid drug called alcohol. The reasons why I say this is because alcohol is very addictive, it causes health problems, and because it affects people’s judgment.…

Hi, my name is Isabel and I am here to talk to you about a sickening problem in America. I refuse to pretend like this isn 't happening in our nation for any longer. Who here has ever been in trouble at school? Maybe you just got yelled at or had to serve a detention? If you lived in Texas, Tennessee or any of the other 19 states that allow corporal punishment in schools, you would be hit with a wooden paddle as a punishment in front of all of your peers. This happens to students of every age from primary school up until high school. It is vital that corporal punishment in schools is outlawed because it is inhumane, ineffective, teaches children violence, and teachers should not…

It has long been argued that the financial education should be made a mandatory component of the school program as our surroundings is much into financial aspects. Some people strongly support this statement while some think that it is not necessary. I believe to a certain extent that monetary education is crucial and should be implemented in the school curriculum; however, the other side is equally considerable.…

It was just a day like any other. Students go to school, adults go to work, but that was not the case for Michael. He was found dead at 11.39 a.m at the hostel of the University of Georgia with a blade in hand and a note that said, “I couldn’t take it. They were so mean to me online. All those comments, hate messages… Is it my fault that I happen to find members of the same sex attractive? I don’t belong to this world anymore. I’m sorry.” Michael Connolly was the top student of his cohort. He was only 20 years old before he put an end to his life.…
