According to District Administration, in 2013 the state of Alabama put into place a new positive reinforcement plan for eight school districts. This is to help students be ready for college, and improve their behavior as a whole. “The top goals set forth for this program were to increase attendance, improve academic achievement and reduce disciplinary infractions” (p. 27). Teachers were trained and given tools to help their students. In order to make their goals happen, the teachers used a point system to reward students with outstanding achievements rather than taking things away for bad behavior. The points that were gained could be cashed out for prizes incorporating school functions or school related activities. Students are allowed to login online to keep track of how many points they have garnered, and the school found that the more…

This research study examines how to utilize a collaborative team approach in order to implement a new practice, specifically the practice of embedding IEP goals. This study investigates how teachers can most effectively address preschool students’ IEP goals in the context of routine activities in an inclusive preschool classroom. A systematic team approach was used in developing, planning and implementing opportunities to embed IEP goals within small group lessons. The topic of collaborative team planning is a component of the movement towards successful inclusion of all students. Team collaboration among general education teachers, special education teachers, paraeducators, and any other important player(s) can lead to a more positive experience,…

Many may argue that creating a motivational plan is strictly for the good of the employees and their needs. Well, while a motivational plan does benefit the employees, Collard (2002) suggests, "the ultimate goal of the motivational plan is to improve the equity value of the company”. The motivation plan then obviously benefits both the corporation and the employee when it accomplishes the goal that is was intended to address.…

One of the immediate developmental goals that make sense for this child is for the student to strive to transfer his thoughts and drawings into written thoughts and words. The student easily draws and orally explains his thoughts, ideas, and answers, but he struggles to write his thoughts down. This student and his family can set a goal for him to begin writing his thoughts down and progress in his handwriting and language development and skills. Another developmental goal that makes sense for this child would be to make friends and interact more with other students. While I observed, the student had very little to no interaction with other students. The student remained alone and spoke to himself often. He also entertained himself while he…

The planning and controlling functions of management often receive less attention from the small business owner-manager than they should. One way to more effectively fulfill these two functions is through effective goal setting. The success of a business will depend on its long-range goals for sales, profits, competitive position, development of personnel and industrial relations. To accomplish these goals, the company will need to identify intermediate goals that it can work toward each year. ____________________________________________________________…

Saying I'm going to have $5 million by retirement is not goal setting. Although it might sound like I have a goal, not developing a realistic path toward fulfilling it will, unfortunately, turn my supposed goal into what it really is--a pipe dream. And pipe dreams are rarely realized. Goals, however, when properly set can usually be met.…
