• Don’t summarize the readings. You may refer to something in the reading, but I don’t want the entire reflection paper to be a summarization of the reading. Instead, comment on your thoughts regarding the reading - do you agree or disagree with what was written? Why or why not? Did the reading make you question or think about something else? What questions were you left with after doing the reading? Can you relate the reading to something going on in the media today? Does the author of a given reading have a valid and logical argument? If an article details a study that was done, was the study done in a manner that is valid? - Why did the author write the article? - Why was s/he arguing what s/he was arguing? - Do you agree with the author? Why or why not? - How might the author respond to your comments? Why? - What were some of the common themes/issues in the article? - How would you respond to these? - How is the article tied into class material or discussions (if at all)? - etc...
Papers should be at least 3 pages long
Writing should use formal language and correct spelling and punctuation
Topics reflected upon may include any information covered in class or in the reading from the beginning or the quarter to the present
Papers may take 1 or 2 topics and examine them deeply, or more topics examined in less detail
When writing, consider the following:
What have we studied that is interesting?
What new things have you learned?
How has your learning affected preconceptions or misconceptions you brought with you into class
How does your learning
