ABSTRACT
In today’s generation, technology has evolved and created several outlets for consumers and businesses to interact. Social media site was launched in 1997 by SixDegrees.com in which allowed users to create profiles and search communities for friends. The development of interaction on the internet embarked a new means of communication, marketing, and connecting with friends. Currently there are some many websites that have been developed that encourage dating, interaction with old friends, and sites created for businesses to view content from consumers. Face book, Twitter, and MySpace, just to name a few, are the most popular sites that regular people interact with celebrities, friends, and businesses. This media platform is being used to introduce new products and even develop relationships for consumers and businesses on a more personal level.
Social media is open to anyone worldwide and allows businesses to market inside and outside of the US. This media platform also allows companies to see what consumers really wanting to purchase and expect from a company. The internet can make or break a company because the comments, negative or positive, are available to anyone who accesses the internet whether is through the social media site or Google. If someone has a bad experience with a product or service, it spreads like wildfire. It’s extremely hard for companies to do damage control on the internet other than offering more incentives for their poor service or malfunction of a product. For companies that develop products that rarely have issues, consumers are always singing there praises and this benefits businesses by attracting new consumers looking for the same products and services.
I am an avid subscriber to Facebook and Twitter because it is a great way for me to connect what is going ton in the world, my community, and other people’s lives.
