What makes a slap shot go so fast. A good slap shot is the result of weight transfer. The weight transfers from the legs to the core to the shoulder down to the arms and then to the stick in the hands. The player has to hit the ice just before the puck. This causes the stick to arch back. Then when the stick makes contact with the puck the part of the stick that was arched releases all of its stored energy on the puck and this causes the puck to go flying.
