Should We Extend The School Week?
Do you think that we should have an extended school week? Quite a few people think that we should have an extended school week because the students learn more, but that is not true; however no extended school week offers more time for extra-curricular activities, also the extra hours of teaching don’t make a difference, and you have more time for family time.
The no extended school week offers more time for extra-curricular activities because many want to go to specific activities, but they can’t because they have many projects, and work that sometimes stresses you out, and you get tired and can’t do activities after your done because you are very tired. For example when I have work I have to go late to Kumon and frequently have pick-up my work. The problem when you pick-up your work is that then you don’t have extra assistance when you need help.
The extra hours of teaching doesn’t make a difference because United States does 1,056 hours of teaching and the math scores for 15 year olds is only 476, but South Korea teaches for only 545 hours and the scores for the 15 year olds get 547 test scores in math. Also, even if you do that wouldn’t you just be repeating the same concept over and over again causing stress for the students?
You would have more family time because you would not spend your time studying or going to school but you would be spending time with your family having fun by going to the museum, going for a movie, or simply just playing a board game. Also, being with your family causes less stress, because results prove that your family helps you feel better.
All together, I hope you see why no extended school week offers more time for extra-curricular activities, also the extra hours of teaching don’t make a difference, and that you have more time for family time.

Year-round schooling is a new method of education. It has been developed to help students achieve higher grades, and have a better learning experience. The basis around this is to eliminate the alleged “summer learning loss.” The hope is that students will retain more information without having such a long break. More time means a more flexible schedule for homework and assignments. Shorter school days, as short as 180/365, 0.493150685 long days or about half the typical hours a school day lasts. Imagine only having to go to school only 3 hours a day! The school year would be longer but the days would be super short.
