Should Animal Testing Be Necessary?
There are millions of animals lives sacrificed for human research, people may claim those experiments are morally no difference with murders and be curious, do animal testing necessary? With reference to current issues on animal rights and academic studies on animal testing, I will illustrate that all animal testing should not be banned, they are crucial and significant to the medical development and can by no means substitute by other experimental methods. I will further explain that human have greater intrinsic value than animal, socially and religiously, they do not have the same rights.
Firstly, animal testing has overwhelming contribution on medical development especially on drugs and diseases. Other mammals have similar organs and body

This is the fastest method to determine which drugs they should use in that critical moment. Animals testing is used to investigate the pathogen of other epidemic and fatal diseases such as diabetes, SARS and cancer. Moreover, animal testing can apply in different aspects of medical research for example the exploration of new drugs. Animal testing can even save countless lives because scientists are able to reform the harmful medicines’ formula before they are selling in pharmacies. Safety of the drugs can be ensured and reduce other unexpected side effects for example allergy on human bodies after undergoing the animal testing. It provides scientists and pharmaceutical companies an indicator to improve the potency of new drugs after observing the animals’ …show more content…
Majority of animal protection organizations assert animals have the same sanctity as human do, animals’ rights should not be despised while thousands of demonstrations against animal testing is holding all over the world every year. However, without deny, human beings have critical thinking and analytical skills after education while animals don’t. How can we expect animals have the same right as human beings if there is an enormous difference of punishment between killing an animal and killing a human being? According to the chapter 212 and 169 of the law of Hong Kong, you will face life in prison if you murder someone, but you will be charged HK$200000 and face 3 years in prison only for an animal death.
Besides, animals receive different treatments as human beings, this belief not just consolidates in society, but in religious beliefs as well. Bible are promoting ‘speciesism’ which is a belief that humans are superior to other beings. It mentioned humans were created in the image of God while animals were created for being human’s partners. In Genesis of bible, Noah made an ark for all the animals to dodge the coming deluge. Human born to be leaders in nature, of course, respecting animals is not wrong, but human life proved to be more precious and valuable in social and religious

`”God loved the birds and invented trees. Man loved the birds and invented cages” (Deval, Jacques). There are many things wrong about animal research, and I think that a lot of it is wrong. Animal testing is wrong because it harms animals, animals’ rights are violated in tests, it is expensive, there are better alternatives, and the results of these tests aren’t always accurate or reliable.…

When it comes to the topic of animal testing, most of us will readily agree that it is a debatable topic. Where this argument usually ends, however, is on the conversation if animal testing is necessary. Whereas some are convinced that using animals for testing has contributed to many lifesaving cures and treatments, others maintain that these animals are very different from humans and, therefore, make poor test subjects. My own view is these animals have produced many treatments, but not outcomes that are effective enough in the human body, therefore should not be using animals.…

As a result of this, nine out of every ten trial medicines that look safe and appear to be effective on animals, fail when they are given to humans. Because animals don’t react the same way as humans, not only do the failed tests delay medical progress, but also they are a waste of animal’s lives, and a waste of money that is spent into the research and tests. Animals have different anatomic, cellular, and metabolic structures than humans have. If a new product is passed just because it is safe on animals and isn’t on humans, that could be a very dangerous situation. One instance when this occurred was in 1950 when a sleeping pill worked on animals but when given to humans it caused 10,000 babies to be born with severe birth defects. Another time, a drug for arthritis was safe on mice but when administered to humans caused 27,000 heart attacks and sudden cardiac deaths. Animal testing can make researchers oversea potential cures and treatments. Some substances that are harmful to animals, are helpful to humans. For example, aspirin is dangerous to some animals. Arthur Allen says, “A source of human suffering may be the dozens of promising drugs that get shelved when they cause problems in animals that may not be relevant for humans.” (“Of Mice or Men: The Problems with Animal Testing”). Of all the medicines that pass animal trials and are ready for human…

Many people argue that animal testing is morally correct because it is necessary in order for science to evolve and to protect human health. Psychologist like Ivan Pavlov and Harry Harlow used animal testing and discovered critical knowledge of development and the human brain. Without these animal experimentations, a lot would still be unanswered about the way the human brain functions. The Institute for Laboratory Animal Research of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences thinks virtually every medical achievement in the 20th century has had to use animal testing in some form. This is because even with all the highly sophisticated technology, nothing can model the exact interactions between molecules, cells, tissues, organs, and organisms, which makes animal testing a necessity in many cases. Suppporters of animal testing say that these advances are critical, and that without animal test subjects the advances would not occur, would require human testing, or would result in untested products being offered to the public without being fully researched.…

The major pro for animal testing is that it aids researchers in finding drugs and treatments to improve health and medicine. Many medical treatments have been made possible by animal testing, including cancer and HIV drugs, insulin, antibiotics, vaccines and many more. It is for this reason that animal testing is considered vital for improving human health and it is also why the scientific community and many members of the public support its use. In fact, there are also individuals who are against animal testing for cosmetics but still support animal testing for medicine and the development of new drugs for disease.…

Animal testing has been used a lot throughout the years and now it is time to make a change. Animal testing has caused harm and death to over 100 million innocent animals per year for the sake of human progress. Today there are many alternatives for animal testing that scientist can use in experiments instead of animals. These alternatives are more efficient, less expensive, and do not cause harm to any living being. Instead of introducing animals to malignant diseases, and killing them for research, we can use alternatives that will help fight disease that affects people. The alternatives are highly efficient because they are able to mimic the physiological state of the human body. This is very significant change in producing successful results…

For example bacterial infections were the major cause of death back in the old days but when Ernest Chain infected 2 mice with a very deadly high dose of Streptococcus bacteria then proceeded to inject the subjects with penicillin. The treated subjects survived though the untreated ones died. This lead to further trials of research to test the toxicity of penicillin and development for higher quality penicillin for the consumption of humans. With the test on mice, the outcome was that it revolutionized the capability to treat bacterial infections, which was a major cause of fatalities. Just this simple test on mice lead to the saving of millions of lives for both humans and animals. As you can see animal testing has proven to be very effective over the last century in developing essential necessities and treatments humans need to thrive such as insulin, antibiotics for tuberculosis, cancer treatments, blood transfusions, tamoxifen(cancer treatment) and so many other medicines and treatments that…

Animal testing has its pros and cons but ultimately is unnecessary now. It seems that the only reason it still exists in such popularity is the immoral influence of large corporations. Experiment methods such as selective formulation, human cultures, the physiological chip, cellular tests, and microdosing have made animal testing, a once necessary evil, obsolete. For this, it seems experimenting on animals should at least be limited. Maybe one day it will be completely…
