Animal testing for scientific or commercial use is wrong and inaccurate because animals are made up differently than humans. Animal testing is procedures done on animals for research to test medicine and commercial items to see if they are harmful or effective for humans. The experiments can cause the animals to have physical and mental suffering and distress. Most of the animals are killed at the end of the experimentation but some are used again in other experiments. The most common animals used for the experiments are fish, mice, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, farm animals, hamsters, birds, cats, dogs, and monkeys. More than 115 million animals are used in experiments worldwide. Animals are living beings too, they should get the chance to live…
Many people argue that animal testing is morally correct because it is necessary in order for science to evolve and to protect human health. Psychologist like Ivan Pavlov and Harry Harlow used animal testing and discovered critical knowledge of development and the human brain. Without these animal experimentations, a lot would still be unanswered about the way the human brain functions. The Institute for Laboratory Animal Research of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences thinks virtually every medical achievement in the 20th century has had to use animal testing in some form. This is because even with all the highly sophisticated technology, nothing can model the exact interactions between molecules, cells, tissues, organs, and organisms, which makes animal testing a necessity in many cases. Suppporters of animal testing say that these advances are critical, and that without animal test subjects the advances would not occur, would require human testing, or would result in untested products being offered to the public without being fully researched.…
Animals should NOT be used for testing in labs. There are many reasons why this dilemma should stop. They have different bodies than humans so the tests may react different on them than on humans and that could lead to danger to people. I think if scientists have to lab test on something living then they should pick something overpopulated, but that still is not okay, therefore something needs to be figured out. Or instead of using helpless animals, they should use all natural products and take human volunteers willing to get tested on. Why risk poor helpless little animal’s lives? Why torture them? It is proven that animals are not the best test subjects to use.…
On the other hand it can quite helpful in finding new cures without human trials. This possibly saving human lives is why I think that they do the animal testing first. I know it may sound a little harsh but would you rather risk a special bred mouse for the experiment, or yourself? That is the main focus of my paper today is to bring to your attention the pros and cons of the animal testing going on today. That is the whole principle of animal testing is to reduce human suffering, so we can live today to get to tomorrow. So maybe we can find the cure for cancer or aids with animal testing doing no harm to the human race. So therefore both sides of the argument have very good statements, so we will have to differ between them to see which one is…
Animal testing for biomedical research has been going on for centuries for example Aristotle; who was an early greek physician, also tested on animals to expand the knowledge of living organism’s anatomy. During the mid to late nineteenth century companies grew rapidly thus requiring more animals and more test to be applied on the subjects for their research or cosmetic use. Since the accelerated amount of animal testing grew, various different types of associations were created to hinder or to lowly regulate the usage of living organism and shared records to the public to gain more supporters. Throughout the research of various subjects, the testers treated the subjects inhumanely thus the animal’s treatment was publicized to the mass/community which spawn a burst of fury of anger towards animal testing. The surge of animal testing abuse led to the…
All over the world, many popular companies are producing our favorite products, ranging from cosmetics, to food, medicine, and to cleaning supplies. When you use your favorite products, they may pose no threat to you, but don’t be fooled, your favorite products may have been the cause of death for many helpless and innocent mice, rabbits, rats, primates, hamsters,…
Imagine being scared for your life everyday, not understanding why all day long needles are being stuck in you, or even being shoved into a small space with hundreds of other animals from the same species. People should not test on animals because animal tests are mortally wrong and inhumane, it can permanently injure, and ultimately animal testing can kill.…
Animal testing has its pros and cons but ultimately is unnecessary now. It seems that the only reason it still exists in such popularity is the immoral influence of large corporations. Experiment methods such as selective formulation, human cultures, the physiological chip, cellular tests, and microdosing have made animal testing, a once necessary evil, obsolete. For this, it seems experimenting on animals should at least be limited. Maybe one day it will be completely…
Every year remarkable breakthroughs in medicine are occurring and we can give thanks to animal testing for being the reason for many of them. Animal testing can be essential to providing important information needed to move forward with experiments and new medicine. While some believe that animal testing is wrong, it is necessary, as long as the animals are treated with care, because it provides beneficial insight into humans, and it could lead to cures for certain illnesses.…
Animal testing has been used since before 384 B.C. Scientists have questioned the purpose of animal testing since the early 17th century. Progress has been made in trying to find alternatives for animal testing such as “studying cell cultures in a petri dish, which can produce more relevant…
The question is not, "Can they reason?" nor, "Can they talk?" but rather, "Can they suffer?"…
Aristotle and Erasistratus were the first two early Greek physician-scientist performed experiments on living animals. In 1859, Charles Darwin's evolutionary theory reinforced the conception that animals could serve as models for humans in the study of biology and physiology. Animal testing plays a large important role in pharmaceutical and medical advances, but many question the mortality of such use of the animal’s life. More than 100 million aninals are used for testing every single year. Animal testing has brought a lot of positive and negative outcome and there are many different opinions regarding it.…
In our society today, there have been many disputes over many things such as politics, race, gender, and money that have split the world in half. Animal testing is one of these many disputes, that may not have an end. Animal experimentation, or animal testing if you will, is when animals of different species are being tested on, varying from space research to agricultural testing. People in our world may disagree on the purpose of animal testing on the grounds of how cruel, and unruly it is to do to poor innocent animals. On the other hand, some people say that animal testing may have possibly been one of the greatest ideas ever developed, creating many kinds of medicines and vaccines that saved many lives at one time or another. Animal experimentation…
In American society, many groups and organizations are debating whether or not animal testing should be banned. Some people believe that there are reasons why animal testing should be done. Others believe that animal testing is morally wrong. Some experts believe that there are other options available. I believe that animal testing is wrong based on three observations: animal testing is unethical, pointless, and abusive.…
Animals everywhere across the U.S suffer for their lives due to the so called “benefits” of animal testing. There are many different alternatives to the procedures used in animal experimentation that even have a better result than the results received from animal testing. Not only are pointless tests done on animals but painful and disturbing tests are done on animals without of the knowledge of the procedure will have any effect on the research. Not only are animals endangered and haunted by disturbing memories that will never be forgotten, but they are also injured and killed due to the horrific practice known as animal testing. Animal testing is not only cruel but unnecessary and must to be put to a…
