Senior Exercise Plan
Regular exercise will help Toronto seniors lessen their chances of injury, prevent chronic diseases and improve their mood. Having a place where they can go to get a workout may help motivate a senior even more to exercise because they'll receive the encouragement often needed to keep going from a trainer or those in an exercise group. Here are five local places where older adults can go to get fit and healthy:

Agincourt Recreation Center

Located at 31 Glen Watford Drive, this facility offers yoga classes for seniors ages 60 and over on Mondays from 11 a.m. to noon. During class, seniors will learn various poses and relaxation and breathing techniques that will enhance their flexibility and strengthen and tone their muscles. Doing yoga will also help encourage mindfulness in a senior. They will become mindful of their body as well as their emotions and thoughts. Seniors need to bring a mat.

They offer trainers for specialty programs and classes for seniors that includes Nordic walking. Seniors can book this walking class when it's convenient for them. They can either use their poles or purchase them from the center. A special trainer will teach seniors the proper way to use the poles as well as pole stretching and strengthening exercises. Nordic walking will help a senior to properly use and strengthen the muscles in their upper chest, abdomen and back. This type of walking will also help improve their balance and leg and arm strength.

Community Center 55

Located at 97 Main Street, this facility offers fitness classes for older adults ages 55 and over. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays they offer 60-minute senior fitness classes in the morning. In this class, older adults will do cardio, strength flexibility and balance training. These exercises will get seniors energized, make them stronger and help improve their overall quality of
