Self-Reliant Presidency Vs Minimalist Presidency
Dakota,

I enjoyed reading your post. I agree with you in most of your statements, especially with the statement that is “While the minimalist presidency can be argued to be a better approach than a self-reliant presidency as it allows for a delegation of tasks and a more communal approach to decision making, a completely hands off approach is not any more effective than a completely self-reliant presidency. What a strange that there is 100 percent difference between minimalist one and self-reliant one. Reagan and Bush II were in the category of minimalist as you mentioned that Reagan was one of this model. Now, there is an election on November, 2016, and most probably, in my opinion, Bernie Sanders would be a candidate of the Democratic

I think as the book states that the presidency and its scope have grown dramatically since its creation. I don’t think the framers had the vision of today’s world when they created the position. That being said, the one thing that has not changed or grown is the President still must answer to Congress and the people. I think he has a huge amount of responsibility and sometimes enough and sometimes not enough power. It just depends on the situation and where his presidential powers lie on the scale for that problem.…

I agreed with your post this week given the fact that we took an almost identical way of describing and pointing out the weakness of the Articles of Confederation. An aspect that you covered by I missed was the issues of states not paying federal taxes. Without taxes being made it would not allowing funding for the government to function and create institutions necessary for a the states and country to survive. Yes, a huge part of the colonies reason to gaining their independence was British unfair taxes but the value that taxes had financial was missed. In cases of fear and angry we tend to make rational decision by way of irrational behavior and thought. This is not to say the colonies actions were irrational but just to acknowledge…

Great job with your post. You picked a great article and brought up many questions that all readers should be asking. I really liked how you read against the grain and questioned the authors definition and meaning of certain sentences. By reading against the grain you were able to look at the article from a different view then and bring up many points that I did not think about when reading the article the first time. After this assignment I will begin to read with and against the grain in all my textbook readings and scholarly articles to become a stronger reader.…

Why did I choose Ronald Reagan as the topic of my president report? He is one of the very few great presidents America has ever seen. In his 8 years of his presidency, he freed prisoners held in Iran by previous president Jimmy Carter, lowered the unemployment rate, ended the Cold War, and the list goes on and on which proves my previous statements.…

Should the president have an unlimited number of terms that he/she can serve, or should they only be able to serve one six years term? I believe that the current system we have in place now is the best fit. I 100% agree with the 22nd amendment that was inspired by Thomas Jefferson because allowing the president the option of being in office for two terms is a comfortable number of years. I feel four years is plenty of time to accomplish different goals for the country. This also allows the president the ability to settle into their new position before having to think about the next election to come. Since the 22nd amendment states they can run for a second term, the president can run again and pursue goals in progress…

In the midst of the 2008 campaign, then-candidate Barack Obama revealed that his goal was to be a transformational president. (4) “Ronald Reagan changed the trajectory of America in a way that Richard Nixon did not and in a way that Bill Clinton did not. He put us on a fundamentally different path because the country was ready for it,” said President Obama. (4) It was clear that President Obama wanted to change America the way former President Reagan did…

The Office of the White House Chief of Staff is one of the most powerful political offices in D.C. and this shows through John Grisham's Novel the Pelican Brief. In it there is a man named Fletcher Coal, who is often referred to as a hatchet man(Grisham 37). He is a middle aged man who has clawed his way into the inner circle and dominates the administration behind closed doors. I wanted to know what his power was like to a real chief of staff.…

Self-reliance is defined as reliance on oneself or one’s powers, resources, etc. according to dictionary.com. In T.H White’s The Once and Future King, Merlyn teaches Arthur to be more self-reliant. Self-reliance is a prominent theme in the novel because it helps Arthur to become king at the end of Book I. The presidency is both an exciting and a challenging job. One need not ask a past president about his experience and thoughts on running for and winning the presidency- there are always inherent struggles, challenges and threats to the presidency. For a start, presidents need to face his critics that always make the case that he is unfit for the presidency. There are other stakeholders and interest groups that will also try to contest the presidency and raise some issues. Also, the challenges to the presidency come in the form of public outcry for certain issues and poliy directions. But there are some cases wherein the challenges and threats are extreme- like an assasination attempt. Threats to life of the presidents are common in modern history and around the world. One of the earliest (and luckiest) cases of an assasination attempt was experienced by former…

Thank you so much, Moderator, for having us today, and the Republican party for taking part in this debate. The entire Federalist political party stands behind me when I say that this debate proved, once and for all, that the Federalist party is made of true and genuine people who speak honestly and are proud of their actions. With the Federalist party in charge, this growing nation will have a strong central government, with an evolving Constitution, where the noble and well-informed will leave no room for selfish decisions. The Republican party, however, had only strengthened my feeling of doom for the future lest this corrupted form of government ever take place. Where states are separated, industrialism vanishes, and Thomas Jefferson is…
