Step 01- Interview
After short listing the resumes the first step of selection process is interview. An interview give the employer opportunity to evaluate the candidate based upon certain criteria which include job knowledge, skills, abilities, personal attributes and others. Every organization has certain criteria for hiring an individual which depends about the job requirement.
Skills play the most important part while hiring a graduate, these days organization do not have time to train the raw graduate on the basic required skills. They want to hire the candidate who can cope up with the work quickly with less training. I can acquire some skills during the academics by mentoring, counseling etc. Keep record of my achievements copies of projects, presentations, achievements,
Communication:
There are certain skills that appear on my resume and can be easily identified such as communication skills. I can mention if i have knowledge of any other language etc. Communication plays important part for any job as I am required to communicate with number of people on daily basis. This will be judged by the employer. I can improve my communication skills by written down tasks such as writing essays, reports etc. I can improve my oral communication by taking part in presentations, public speaking etc.
Numeracy:
Understating calculations, basic ideas play important role. I may not be required to work on numerical job but i should have good thinking skills. Start working on MS Excel making some graphs, stats charts would help me improve these skills. Make day to day calculations of receipts etc.
Team-Player:
Work effectively in a team, contribute to team objectives, communicate effectively with team members, respect, listen to and encourage team members, pitch in, put success of team ahead of individual success. In my academics employer will judge me based upon my team work projects, conflicts and disagreements.
