The second organization that I had the opportunity to volunteer for is Goodwill Rescue mission. They created this organization in 1896. Under the leadership of Rev. Lawrence Sutherland, the purpose of the organization moved from being a struggling institution to one with a nationwide reputation. They shared the love of God in Christ by providing food, shelter, spiritual guidance and instruction for the poor and the homeless in Newark. According to Goodwill Rescue mission, they affiliate with helping the individuals directly rather than send them someplace else to fend for themselves. The program is also working with some of these individuals to get them back on their feet to fend for themselves. They have to go through programs if any of them…

Being active in National Charity League for six years, I have had the pleasure of working with many different philanthropies, my favorite being The Tualatin School House Pantry. Operating out of the basement of a church, the food bank helps to feed families in the community who are struggling financially. While my first few experiences at the food pantry were emotionally challenging, I found them to be very eye opening. I met many people from different backgrounds, yet they all shared the same hardship, the inability to afford food for themselves and their families. Wanting to do more for the recipients, I received training to be one of the personal shoppers.…

The Ronald McDonald Charities are a very helpful charity, giving hope to many families around the world. I think that RMHC is very successful and helpful for everyone around the world. The charity has given hope to many families that didn’t and/or couldn’t get through such a tragic event. In the year 2014, the RMHC has had over 2,000 families stay in their “Home Away From Home.” Also, they have about 3,500 shuttles going on trips to help the people around the world. Everyone around the world gets helped in many ways. Some more affected than others. The RMCH is a non-profit organization that relies on donations from businesses and individuals to help support sick children and their families. Donations are not required to come in monetary form; food, home essentials, toys, and other items are accepted and offer many benefits to families. Since 70% of Canadian families live outside a city with a hospital, the donations are crucial in helping provide nearby houses to hospitals for families with sick children (RMHC, n.d). Some of the donation money also provides family rooms inside hospital walls so that family members can have a comfortable visit with their loved ones. Medical treatment, educational programs, playrooms, and services for the family, such as meals, are all supplied inside the houses. The Ronald McDonald House Charity has also recently introduced the Care Mobile program that provides dental health care to the communities in need. Volunteers also contribute to the social objective of this social economy organization by offering their support and services to help families in…

Volunteering is a way to help that has the ability to give back. There are many great benefits to volunteer work, and not only by helping people in need. According to Shayla in Benefits of Volunteering in College, volunteering can also "build your network", "strengthen your resume", and of course give you the knowledge to better understand the people you are giving your time to (Shayla). Building your network will be a vital part of life when trying to find jobs, internships, and make business connections. People you meet through volunteering have the ability to forever affect your life and may well continue to be a part of your life for years to come. What better place to meet people who share the same drive to help others as you do than at an organization who helps feed Americans in need? These hours will not go unnoticed on your resume either. "Scholarship committees love to learn how youth are helping their communities." These hours will not only be valued by the people they help, as you spend time helping others your outlook on life is changed by the skills and real life experience you gain from it. Although the company’s corporate volunteer program had been on the books for a while, it wasn’t being used because the company had failed to publicize it. About a year ago, Dunn began working with Cadence’s senior executives to promote the program via e-mail, posters and a series of employee information meetings. Managers were instructed to reassure staff that no adverse effects would come from taking advantage of the benefit. To the contrary, both workers and the company would gain from employees’ doing so.…
