A six hour shift, I worked various jobs around the store. Before I began the work, I underwent a 30 minute training session with the supervisor and several other volunteers. The session included learning about the Store's mission, safety regulations, and duties, as well as Customer Service and Interaction The next day I proceeded to the warehouse section of the store where I began sorting through new arrivals and items for placement around the store. I did not realize the massive amount of donations and inventory received by the store. Afterwards, I worked on cleanup of the store and ensuring items were organized for customers and purchase, a simple task. It is intense and comprehensive work that pushes personal boundaries yet pays off in the long run. The organization helps millions of people around the country in so many ways, and assisting in the store in selling affordable clothing, appliances, etc is just one. I set out to experience a different form of public service and learn more about the work and myself. I accomplished these goals and more. I learned how to interact with people I may not normally do so with on a daily basis, and managed to give back while doing so. And because of this I would definitely work with Habitat For Humanity
