Leadership
I have always supported my family because they are without a doubt my number one priority. On
September 12, 2014, my aunt needed help moving houses on 6435 E Calle de Norte. so I offered my assistance. My aunt has done a lot of nice things for me so this is how I repay her. I helped her by moving furniture and setting up her appliances. It took almost 7 hours to finish but it was worth every minute of it. Miracle League

I give back to my school because they give me the education I need. It was amazed me how much garbage I had to pick up that was laying around on campus. This helped my dedication for my school and made me more careful for Arcadia. Middle School Festival (EM)

On Saturday November 15th, I was the event manager with for the Middle School Festival at
Saguaro High School. The middle school festival is a all day event from 6:303:30 where the middle school basketball teams play head to head games against all the teams. I volunteered my keeping score and in charge of clock management. I chose this event because I participated in this event in my middle school days at Ingleside Middle School, so it was nice seeing my old teacher who is the coach now and reflecting on leadership skills. November 25th

5/53

Special days
On November 25th, I volunteered to deliver the Thanksgiving meals that couldn't be picked up to the individual families. This could have been one of the most confusing events that I participated in this year. We had some problems such as people not having their green slips and sometimes we had a hard time finding the location. This happened more towards the beginning of our deliveries. All of the deliveries we made were fairly close to each other so that made it a lot easier. This event was a lot like pick up day when it came to reflecting. I felt very good about myself and felt like I made a difference to the families in need. Holiday lights

Each year in November I volunteer at The Basket Brigade. We assemble boxes full of food for the less fortunate to have for Thanksgiving/the holiday season. After assembling the boxes we each take 4-5 and deliver them to anyone who has requested them. This opportunity is very eye opening, it shows you how much a little kindness goes and how thankful people are that you care. I have also volunteered at Feed My Starving Children for the last few years. This organization allows you to help pack food to send to children across the…

The first service learning project I completed was in 2006 which was a participation in tutoring a year six student in the Aquinas College junior school. This tutoring was during winter. After the first week I found it difficult to complete three sport trainings a week (1 in Melville), an after school guitar lesson, a hockey game on Friday nights plus the tutoring program, I thought I was going to have to stop the tutoring and complete service learning in a different area. But after the first week of tutoring I found that tutoring became a priority, I felt that Ricardo found the tutoring much help and seemed to benefit from it. I finished the tutoring program without missing one session.…

Thanksgiving is the time of year you give thanks to God for the bountiful harvest. Thanksgiving is now a statutory holiday in most parts of Canada, with the exception of the Atlantic provinces. In Canada, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October. I remember the cold Monday morning in 2009 when my whole family got together and celebrated Thanksgiving. We usualy dont celebrate thnaksgiving but this time my cousins insisted we do. All of our close reletives came to my cousin's house and celebrated it. Even though we didnt have the traditional thanksgiving dinner it was good. We had a great time and it was the first time all of our relatives were together (exept weddings). I think Thanksgiving is important because it shows how…

The first time I went to the Dade County Youth Fair was an experience that I will never forget. When you ask me of a place that represents Miami, for me, especially as a child, the Youth Fair will always be the first thing to come to my mind. Coming from poverty in Cuba, it was magical to me. As an adult, I still go every year. Now, we go with my wife and kids. It has become a tradition for us and although we don’t usually ride the rides or play the games it is a pleasure to watch my kids enjoy what I enjoyed as a…
