A study conducted by Thatcher, A. James, J & Todd A. (2005) in International Cyberspace Conference on Ergornomics , Johannesburg was said that in making a website, Visual appearance is one of the most important criteria to distinguish a high-quality website. This study response to the effects of web site design such as attention, memory and information search time. The World Wide Web uses different technologies that enable various data to be shared online. By using these different technologies, it increases the potential for further development of information and communication systems. The design of a website should be more than just a pretty homepage. It should be high-quality, appropriate and relevant for the audience and the message it is supporting.

The purpose of this study is to find the connection between web design attributes and the user’s psychological feelings. This feeling is called “Kansei” which Nagamachi refer to as the costumer’s psychological feelings, and image of, a new product. Many professionals have studied about the different elements that affect the viewer’s psychological feelings. These elements were named, font type, color, and image size.

Holzschtag said that font types should be familiar to the web users while Red, Blue and Green have been selected since they are the three most commonly used colors. According to Boyle, Black is also included as a color since the most commonly used combination is black text on a white background.

As a result, the researchers have found that web users are not sensitive when it comes to common and familiar web designs. The experiment also indicates that the font color, font type and image size suggested by different books, is unable to give positive sentiments and colorful design does not necessarily attract the web
