Reflective Essay On Ultrasound
This was my first week. I was really...glad that I decided to give Diagnostic Imaging a try for my Co-op. At first I wasn't sure if it was going to be for me, and I was worried all the information I would get would go right over my head and I wouldn't understand, but I am really happy I took a leap of faith and gave it a try. Through I did not find Ultrasound as interesting, I really loved being in Nuclear Medicine. I found it amazing how much detail you could actually see in the images. I really enjoyed looking at all the imaging, and trying to find if anything was wrong with them for myself. With all the heart images, I found it difficult to spot anything, but after things were pointed out to me, like with the damage from a heart attack at the edge of the heart, I was really excited that I could see it myself. Even just now after a week, a few things like fractures and …show more content…
I would honestly love to learn more about these materials and how they work. This first week was really great for me. Only experiencing all that I did, I know for sure now that I want to go to school to be a Diagnostic Technician. I have been set on being in the healthcare field for a few years now, but every career I have been exposed to, I either wasn't interested or couldn't handle it. With diagnostic imaging I get the perfect career for me. I get to work in healthcare, doing a job that is not as invasive as others, and I get to work with both people, and technology. These are all things I love, and I am really thankful that I got this opportunity to have this experience, because without have having had this opportunity, I would not have known that this is the path i want to follow. I am really exciting to try all the departments, and figure out which exact one, I am most passionate about, and want to

It has not been quite recently when I scheduled and fulfilled the observation requirement, but about a year ago this month when applying for this program last year. The amazing thing about it is that the memory of this day still remains vividly in my mind. It was on this day that I learned the basic and not so basic job requirements for becoming a radiology technologist. Many might think that this job is limited to aiming a machine, positioning a patient, and taking pictures of their bones, but come to find out there was a whole lot more to it.…

I have chosen this career path for the patients. I have chosen this career because it is two paths that I can switch back and forth from, cardiac and pregnancy. I can go to school for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, then at the end of my four years, I can either go into cardiac sonography or pregnancy sonography. I could also be on a rotation so I will be able to do both things that I would enjoy. Being able to take this career path will give me confidence that I can do something that has never been done in my family. My mom and stepdad, stepmom and dad, have never been to college. So completely college and going into a career that I want to pursue means a lot. I am so ecstatic to show my mom she did raise me right. My mom and Stepdad are my…

Interning at Queens Boulevard Endoscopy Center has been a learning experience. Not a day went by of interning where I was not amused. It is amusing to know what I learned taking all of the health science classes was put to use tremendously. It is now winding down to the last few days of completing my 180 hours soon. My first day of interning was one of the most overwhelming and stressful feelings I have had. I went in this center knowing nothing. It is now where I have felt I been there longer then just these few months.…

Like with every other med surg rotation that I have had, I try to take it one day at a time. Learn from my mistakes every day and improve from them. I have learned so much these eight weeks during the different rotations in the ER, ICU and med surg. From being on 1800 med surg and helping a patient transition from being ill to being discharge to being in the ICU and being a part of a code blue, doing compression and having them pass on. I am certain that I will continue learning until the day I retire. I will accept every challenge that comes my way and will not be afraid to ask for help or guidance. I am looking forward to learning more as I develop my career as an independent…

My overall clinical experience was an amazing opportunity! I learned so many helpful things over the past few months at my placement that I will be sure to take with me throughout my future nursing career. During my experience, I was able to see a writer's workshop first hand, as well as many other subject lessons. I always thought it would be hard to implement writing into many subject areas, but my teacher showed me that it was possible. The class that I was with was a little troublesome, but they got the job done when it came down to it. My teacher displayed wonderful classroom management, which is another thing that I worry about as a perspective teacher. She was able to keep the students engaged in the lessons and keep them on task. A few of the students had minor behavior problems, but it was nothing that she could not handle. My teacher was an organized mess, which is almost identical to me! It was a great experience to be placed with a teacher that was so much like me when it came to organization.…

A few years back I was in a car accident and injured my back. I had an MRI and some basic x-rays done. While in the care of these highly trained and friendly technicians, I came to realize this is what I wanted to do. I believe that our soul purpose in life is to help others. Since my car accident, I realized how I could accomplish my main goal in life. I can help people by being a radiographer. It may sound a little clichéd my story, but it is the truth. Since I have been attending college I thought about being a nurse then a dental hygienist, but I never had that feeling that most people get when something is right. The feeling when you find that special or right thing. Like buying a house, car, or even finding that special someone. The sensation is a warm enthusiasm feeling that consumes the heart. It is a feeling that takes all control of all emotions. When I realized and was introduce into the field, I knew it was love at first sight. I wanted to know more about radiology.…

My first day I walked into the ICU and almost ran right back out, thinking “ Get me out of here” it was a 10 bed unit, the traditional glass ICU room doors, two crash carts at either end of the unit, patient charts seemingly everywhere, precaution carts, glucometers, IV poles and pumps, doctors running into the room at the end of the hall, telemetry monitors beeping and spitting out rhythm strips. Little did I know these sounds and sights would eventually become more calming than frightening. I kept thinking to myself how was I, a student going to handle a clinical placement on this floor? How I could remember the necessary skills of medical surgical nursing to be ok here? I met with my preceptor , a nurse with 30 years experience. I was intimidated. She let me know I would work covering her patient load, with her supervision of course. I would also be expected to know my dosage calculations and all of my medication fact.…

I relish the idea of assessing a patient, then use my vast mental resources (which I sincerely hope are vast by then) to diagnose and guide him or her towards a better life. That aspect of medicine is something I absolutely love, and I hope this is the reason I’m so passionate about it. I haven’t had any real clinical experience as of yet, so I can’t say much more about this.…
