Reflection Paper Final quarter’s lesson is all about the presidents who ruled our country in a specific time. This quarter also talks about the important event in every term of each president. The topic I like the most is the dictatorship of Marcos as he proclaimed the Martial Law and how does it end. Marcos Administration is the longest term that happened in our history, it lasted for 21 years. Marcos, declared the Martial Law with “his reason” he said that the Philippines was at stake for our National Defense Juan Ponce Enrile was ambushed in his way home. Marcos said that it is for the security of the whole country from possible invaders. Martial Law is the exercise of the government and control by military authorizes over the civilian population of a designated territory; as an extreme and rare measure used to control society during war or periods of civil unrest or chaos. After declaring the Martial Law, Marcos then get the power that he wanted, he controls all. Martial Law has its own disadvantage and advantages, tanks are everywhere, critics of Marcos Administration were sent to jail, he controlled the media, people must get into their houses when 6:00 pm comes and the economy is stable. With the power of Marcos, led the Philippines in its desirable place but he used to have so much wealth. That’s why people like Benigno Aquino continue to provoke and express disagreement vocally. When Benigno Aquino died, that’s the time where people cannot take it, they want to have new government so they voted Corazon Aquino wife of Benigno to run for presidency elections. Corazon Aquino runs for the president but didn’t win because of Marcos controlling the results; after losing the election Corazon Aquino and colleagues boycott the elections. People go to the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) singing “Bayan Ko” when the military try to push them backward they just keep singing loudly, so Marcos then consulted to U.S. and given
