I usually try Yoga stretching before I go to sleep. I do it at home, once or twice a week depending on the mood I carry. I mostly do it when I had a tiring day or a lot of stuff going on. I sit down on a mat, close my eyes and begin the relaxation procedure. I try to stretch my whole body, starting from my legs and I work my way up. Most of the time I’m there for about 10 to 15 minutes. I tend to do it right after my shower because the shower itself is what starts relaxing my body. After my shower, I feel fresh and full of energy again. In my personal opinion doing Yoga stretching after a shower has led me to maximum results out of it. I tend to sleep better and wake up feeling even better. It’s just as if my whole body comes back to life and I just forget about what a bad day I had and start thinking that tomorrow will be a better day. I love how this technique makes you feel in a state of peace and relaxation. When they first told me about it I never believed it actually worked until I started trying it. It’s actually a stress reliever that doesn’t involve actual action like sports or the gym. For me playing soccer, running, and going to the gym is another way of forgetting about everything and getting relived but it involves me sweating and actually putting effort on it. I then tried Yoga stretching and I get similar results in reducing my stress. I will certainly keep doing it over and over again because I can do it at any convenient time, it relaxes me, and it doesn’t involve me doing much hard work. Most important why I will keep doing it, because it’s like a sleep aid for me. It helps me get better sleep and better rest. For me not getting sleep is a bad thing, I’m just one of those persons who needs their sleep. The only thing I would change about this it would be to start doing it more often to the point where I do it every day so I can start seeing even better results. I want to one day get better at doing the exercises that help me focus more deeply

Elizabeth Bishop’s “The Hanging of the Mouse”, places animals in the roles of humans in reference to an execution. The writer uses animals to replace humans to possibly convey a message or point of view towards the death penalty. In the story, the mouse is being executed for what we believe is some sort of crime. It isn’t clear whether or not the mouse actually committed a crime, but we are led to believe that an act occurred in which caused the mouse to be executed on this particular day.…

The present article summarizes Ghoncheh and Smith’s (2004) 5 week study of the evoked effects of progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) and yoga stretching on R-states. Smith’s (1999a, 1999b, 2001, 2002) Attentional Behavioral Cognitive (ABC) relaxation theory proposes 15 psychological relaxation-related states (R-States): Sleepiness, Disengagement, Physical Relaxation, Mental Quiet, Rested/Refreshed, At Ease/At Peace, Energized, Aware, Joy, Thankfulness and Love, Prayerfulness, Childlike Innocence, Awe and Wonder, Mystery, and Timeless/Boundless/Infinite. Smith’s theory (1999a, 1999b, 2001, 2002) suggests “that different approaches to relaxation have different positive psychological effects” (as cited by Ghoncheh & Smith, 2004, p.132) and that through sustaining passive simple focus different R-states will be evoked with different methods of relaxation (as cited by Ghoncheh & Smith, 2004).…

I also practice pranayama (breathing techniques). One breathing technique is you first inhale toward the belly then move toward the ribs and finally fill your chest with air. I envision a triangle, the base (belly) is where there is the most air and then it moves up towards the chest and lungs. When it's time to exhale you start breathing out from the top of the lungs and move the breath out from the torso and then the belly. In yoga we are focused on our breath, when you notice and just simply pay attention to your breath it starts to slow and deepen naturally. Another breathing exercise practiced in yoga is creating a longer exhale. The ratio should be one to two when you inhale and exhale, Ideally your exhale should be about two times longer than your inhale. The longer exhale helps calm the body by lowering blood pressure and slows the pulse. I also practice Ujjayi pranayama, this is when you match your breathing to your movement. For example when I lower and bow my head I exhale and when I curve my spine and lift my neck I inhale, this also works with any other movements of the limbs or body. Usually when you open your body you inhale, and when you close your body you exhale. When I am in a certain pose where there's tension or a slight discomfort a method used is to try to breathe into the discomforted area and relax the muscles there. When I incorporate all these methods I feel relaxed especially after a yoga…

Luzon was once split among Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms, Muslim principalities, and ethnoreligious tribes, who had trading connections with Borneo, Malaya, Java, Indochina, India, Okinawa, Japan and China before the Spanish established their rule. From just before the first millennium, the Tagalog and Kapampangan peoples of south and central Luzon had established several Indianized kingdoms, notably among them those of Tundok, Namayan and Maynila. The Laguna Copperplate Inscription, the first Philippine document written in 900AD, names places in and around Manila Bay as well as Medan in Indonesia.[7] These kingdoms were based on leases between village rulers (Datu) and landlords (Lakan) or Rajahs, to whom tributes and taxes were levied. These kingdoms were coastal thalassocracies based on trade with neighboring Asian political entities at that time. According to sources at the time, the trade in large native Rusun-tsukuri (literally Luzon made in Japanese:呂宋製 or 呂宋つくり) clay jars used for storing green tea and rice wine with Japan flourished in the 12th century, and local Tagalog and Kapampangan potters had marked each jar with Baybayin letters denoting the particular urn used and the locale the jars were manufactured in.[8][9] Of this flourishing trade, the Burnay jars of Ilocos are the only large clay jar manufactured in Luzon today with origins from this time.…

In today’s media world, we have the ability to access innumerable amounts of information. Such accessibility provides a positive impact on our lives, but at the same time leaves us vulnerable in conforming to information that is not trustworthy and false. We must not be passive when we are subjected to the various types of media, we must be active. Meaning we must analyze the information at hand and use our reason to come to a conclusion as to whether or not the information is factual. As I began reading Chapter 1 in Mediactive by Dan Gillmor, I was presented with an email that informed me of a discussion between Lt. Col. Oliver North and senator Al Gore. I found myself in acceptance with the information the email provided. I was so intrigued over the fact that Osama Bin Laden had been a threat to Americans since 1987. As I continued reading the material I came to find out that the email was just a form of propaganda. I was so surprised when I found out this email was fiction, and must not trust any information unless it’s backed up by a verifiable source. This made me think back to when I was in my good old Middle School days. I would trust information presented to me by my friends, never questioning if the information was trustworthy or not. Since there is an abundance of information present in the world, as I previously noted, we must be active participants in order to manage this abundance of information. It is also important to make informed judgments when subjected to information overflow. One must question whether or not the information derived from the specific media at hand is trustworthy. I found it interesting that “it has taken millennia for humanity to produce democratized media.” The fact that the moveable type and printing press, way back when, is where this all started intrigues me. I never would have thought to look at those inventions as the first profound democratization of media.…

I was amazed to Elizabeth I because even if she belongs to the dangerous world of political intrigue, she’s still stays as she was at first. She surpassed a traumatic actions of his father by killing her stepmothers just because they can’t bear a male heir. Although his father finally have a son, Edward VI, the boy did not live long, dying at the age of sixteen after a six-year reign, I can’t imagine how terrible it was for King Henry VIII because he only need a son and this happened. I was astound by Elizabeth because at a very young age she showed her potentials and showed exceptional intelligence, excelling at her studies well beyond any of the other royal children.…
