Davis thought that the members of the team had to be different. “Lorenzo didn’t have much to do after school. He didn’t want to walk around the streets.” (Davis 188). Oscar Vazquez- “Maybe, he thought, engineering could offer him a future.” (Davis 191) “Cameron and Ledge formed the robotics group for kids like Cristian.” (Davis 190). In “La Vida Robot” it seems that each characters has different reasons for being in the club. Lorenzo is there because he doesn’t really have anything better to do after school without getting in trouble. Cristian was there because he was interested in robotics and engineering. Oscar was a part of it because it could offer him a future as his plans for the military backfired. They all had different reasons for joining the team. Not all of them had similar interests to help them bond over the topic of the club. Isaacson had a different opinion similar to the first. The members of the group should be similar.“I’d met who knew more electronics than i did,” (Isaacson 209) “His name is Steve. He likes to do pranks like you do, and he’s also into building electronics like you are.” (Isaacson…

After talking with the department head, Joanna was able to detect a several problems that the department suffered. First there was a problem with the leadership of the department. One was that the department head Jose, was focusing more on community services rather than managing the workplace. Also, he was relying on Elena for supervision, who lacked leadership skills and had a personality of a follower rather than a leader. The main problem was that most of the workers don’t follow a certain job description and roles were mixed up. Some workers were doing more than they should and some had more free time during their working hours. The workplace lacked training of individuals that every workplace should have. Also, work is not supervised in an orderly manner. Finally, the top management did not give their employees the chance to engage in decision-making.…

The education and careers programs’ main focus are to get every member of the club to graduate high school and find a rewarding career. It is the concerns of the staff for the club to prevent students from dropping out, intervene in any lifestyle tribulations that maybe preventing growth in a positive direction, and most importantly to enhance their education. There are a dozen individualized programs for club members that focus on different areas of education. Rodriguez paints for the readers a dreary present, one in which there is a great divide and disconnect that exists between each member of his family, colored by a sense of guilt, shown through selection of detail, narrative structure, and punctuation. The divide between the parents and their children becomes most apparent when the children rush to leave in their “expensive foreign cars”, the sister in her…

During the summer, the whole extended family -- uncles, aunts, sisters, cousins, grandparents -- usually leave the capital to get away from the heat and diseases. They leave to stay in Julia grandfather’s house close to the beach in a small fishing village of Boca Chica. Throughout the year the family has always lived in neighbouring houses in the city. Coming together to live under same roof was not a problem because it made them grow even more communal. The men stayed in the capital during the week and came back home on Friday afternoons. The wives, cousins, aunts, grandmother and nursemaids stayed in the house all week. It was a very beautiful atmosphere, they had so much fun, and it seemed then that they were not living in the dictatorship but in a fairyland.…

    1. The author Tanya Maria Barrientos decided to give her article a Spanish title prepared me for the subject by showing me that it will be about Spanish in some way or form. It led me to also believe that in the use of “Se Habla Espanol” Barrientos was trying to hence that it is used in a variety of places with the same three words. Connecting it to the stereotypical Latino that they are all the same did support my impression as the title conveyed that Barrientos saw that the Latinos were people who “wait[ed] tables and clean[ed] hotel rooms.” It meant to Barrientos that speaking Spanish meant to be poor. To be all the same. Just a poor Latino with a job that is typical. Such as the words of “Se Habla Espanol.”…
