In Cathy Jett’s article she talks about how prom can be such an expesive night to prepare for. From buying a $400 dress , getting your hair, nails, and makeup done , and the cost of dinner; She explains how it all adds up to be close to $1000 or even over on some occasions. The cost of prom and its high expesnes does play a toll on some families that cant afford that expesive on a night for their child. With that being said an organization called the Cinderlla Closet was founded. The Cinderlla Closet is when teens donate their used prom dresses that are still in great shape and people who are on a budget and get the dress of their pick free of charge. In this article she talks about testimonials and peoples experiences with prom. The cost for prom from the teens girls she had talked to explain how expesive of a night it is for them and their parents. Eventhough most teenagers pay for a little less than half the expeneses that is still a lot of money to spend on in one night which is why Concord Baptist Church created the Cinderella Closet. They understand that some families may not be in the best financial position so they wanted to help them and their children on their special night.

People who have the heart to create a program like the Cinderella Closet are truly self sacrifing , along with the people who donate their dresses aswell. I think its great that families who are stuggling financially don’t have to worry about the biggest expense on
