Abstract

US based Google the leading Internet search engine company in the world started providing its services in China in 2000. Though Google soon became the leading search engine in the Chinese market, it started losing its market share in couple of years. In China, the Internet content was heavily censored by the government and users searching on Google's site experienced inordinate delays. By 2005, Chinese search engine company Baidu emerged as the leading internet search company in China. To compete with Baidu, Google decided to launch a Chinese website - www.google.cn and agreed to censor its content.

INTRODUCTION
Google china was founded in 2005 by Google.Inc and was headed by kai fu lee, a former Microsoft executive and the founder in 1998 of Microsoft research Asia. Google China is a subsidiary of Google, Inc., the world's largest Internet search engine company. Google China ranks as the number 2 search engine in the People's Republic of China, after Baidu.Its headquarter office is in Beijing, peoples republic of china.In 2005, a Chinese-language interface was developed for the google.com website. In Jan 2006, Google launched its China-based google.cn search page with results subject to censorship by the Chinese government. In Mar 2009, China blocked access to Google's You Tube site; access to other Google online services is denied to users on an ad hoc basis. BAIDU

Baidu, Inc. incorporated on January 18, 2000, is a Chinese web Services Company headquartered in the Baidu Campus in Haidian District, Beijing, and People’s Republic of China. It offers many services, including a Chinese language search engine for websites, audio files, and images. Baidu offers 57 search and community services including Baidu Baike, an online collaboratively-built encyclopedia, and a searchable keyword-based discussion forum.Baidu was established in 2000 by co-founders, Robin Li and Eric Xu.In June 2011, Baidu ranked 5th overall in the Alexa Internet rankings.
