Planet Fitness
Planet Fitness is a vastly growing franchisor in the fitness center industry. As an investor, it would be best to open up a new franchise in Newton, Massachusetts. Planet Fitness is continuously growing and has added 209 stores since 2015. We feel it would be best to open a new facility in a prime location where an affordable, yet practical gym best fits the demographic. Implementing a fancy gym that costs hundreds of dollars a month with over-the-top amenities is unnecessary. Newton is a hard working community where people deserve a gym where they can go and workout, build relationships, and avoid a judgement filled zone. In opening a new franchise of a gym, many roles will need to be filled. For current Planet Fitness franchises, between 13-18 employees are employed at each location. Throughout the week, most stores are open 24 hours a day. The store will not close from 12:00 AM Monday until Friday at 9 PM. Weekend hours consist of 12 hour days, typically from 7 AM-7 PM. As you can see, Planet Fitness will be opened every day of the week, including the weekend. As a new franchise, it is important that the company gets off to a good start. In terms of staffing, we can certainly find approximately 15 employees to staff. Per day, I would say we need between 6 and 9 employees per day. This includes a manager, 1-3 people at the front desk, 1 or 2 people so clean, and about 3 trainers. The trainers are the most important part of the operation. At peak hours, most likely around lunch and after 4 PM, we would certainly need more hands on deck because of the fact that people come in during their lunch breaks or right after they get off of work or done with school.
