Personal Narrative: The Bored Cafe Party
The event we would like to run is all inclusive board game night called: “The Bored Cafe” run on the 5 and 6 of October, which is a Thursday and Friday. We would invite the grade nines and tens on Thursday and elevens and twelves for the Friday. Furthermore, We'll decorate the cafeteria to be fall themed, pumpkins, fake leaves, orange tablecloths for example. The reason for the separation is to hopefully diminish the fear grade nines have of the senior students. We find that a lot of new students are intimidated by the older grades and avoid events where there will be a high concentration of senior students. Rather than have an admission coast we would like to ask students to bring an item to donate to the food bank, also all proceeds made from selling food and drinks would …show more content…
The bored-cafe will be a stress-free zone and a smooth into to a new school year. Also, the admission is one item for the food bank. Since Thanksgiving is coming up on October, 9th, instead of asking for money, it would be beneficial to collect food for the food bank, since many people can’t afford a Thanksgiving dinner. We would use the cafeteria because it's something most students are familiar with and it has tables and chairs already set up. We would need representatives from students council to help with food and drinks, (Set up, Serving and take down.) we would also like help with the setup and takedown of the decorations and board games. And we would have background music, for this, we would use speakers plugged into either a laptop or phone. So we would need access to the speakers and any cords associated with them. Because it is after school we would need teacher volunteers to ensure nothing goes wrong, and to handle the situation if something does go wrong. The stakeholders of the event would be student's council and staff

After the event in SAIPS, our group and the year 6s tidied up the event before their break to get ready for their advertising pieces to show to the entire year. This also includes returning equipment to their art rooms, any cardboard that is left around is thrown away and that the area of the room is also neat and tidy and etc. There was no budget for the event because everything was supplied for the year 6s who are the target audience.…

East Minico would like a total $1,500 to provide incentives for students to come to school. East would like to reward grade levels for having good attendance, grades, and behavior. Our idea is that the grade level with the best attendance percentage would earn a point each week. After each trimester, students in the grade level with the most points will earn a reward party. The money ($500 per trimester) would go towards some sort of treat (E.g. ice cream, pizza, pop, etc.) and to buy rewards (such as gift cards or certificates) for students in drawing. Students would be added to the drawing based on their attendance that trimester.…

The most common way Port Allen High students raise money for such thing is bake sales and market sales. In bake sales students buy baked goods from the store or make baked goods at home and they bring them to school. At lunch is the only time when students can sell their goods. Teacher permission and supervision is required for these types of things. Although a conflict of interest is students not getting approval from the teachers to host a bake sale because teachers simply can't supervise students. The way to solve the problem is to get teachers who are available at certain times. For example, having one teacher take one break to supervise then another teacher can fill the position once the other teacher leaves. A student points out a way in which students get involved is being part of Beta Club. Every year Beta Club sells World Finest chocolate to either students, faculty, or anyone outside of school. The money is fundraised for the school and the school gains a sponsor for the school. The problem is not everyone is in the Beta Club but students can be encourage to buy what other students are selling. At this point every student can help fundraise the money for their school. The last thing in which students help pay for school activities is paying for fields trips right out of their pocket. At Port Allen High it is…

These could be specific to one person, eg. pregnancy, sensory impairments, or specific to the group as a whole. Needs of carers would also need to be taken into consideration, for example, extra seating. If a disabled child was present, their individual needs would also need to be taken into consideration. These could be extra space required to accessibility, extra lighting if visually impaired.…

I feel that I am qualified to be an officer because I was a member, Vice-President, and then President of my high school’s volunteer club (Interact Club). I went to a small, Christian private school, and the club was student-lead with minimal help from our two faculty sponsors. The Interact Club was my greatest achievement in high school. Before my Secretary, and then Vice President and I came into office, even at our small school, many students, teachers and faculty were unaware of what Interact was and what we did in the community. We brought a new aura, publicity, worked exclusively with our Head of School, designed brand new t-shirts, brought in a new executive board, financial sponsors, and hosted our school’s very first talent show where…

I had departed early on Thursday for my descent back to the cold chilly city of Pittsburgh. During the day, my friend who attends Duquesne University in downtown invited me to a night on the town with her and her friends to go to the 3Lau concert at Club Diesel. Usually the club is over 21 on every night, but Thursday’s are different you only have to be 18 years of age or older. Whenever she announced that 3Lau would be performing there, I became too enthusiastic and eager. I had witnessed them once before and they were remarkable, so I immediately agreed to go with them.…

I will never say that I regret going to Waffle House; I do not. It was one of the best times that I have ever had. My friends are so goofy and wild that anytime with them is never boring. I also connected with Leo, which was amazing. We laughed, cried, and talked about everything and nothing. It turned out that we had a lot of things in common; we liked the same music, books, and even paintings. Also, I found out that he was very open-minded and kind; two qualities that are very important to me. The whole night with my friends and him felt movie-like and I will never forget it. I think that it was a good experience to…

As a Chinese-American, my family expected me to help out at the restaurant while maintaining straight A's in school. But, it wasn't easy; every day, I would report to the restaurant after school and immediately start working. Inside the kitchen, I would pack all the orders into aluminum containers, place them into a brown bag, and insert packets of sauces and utensils. Burns and cuts were common due to the terrible and tearable aluminum containers. Outside at the front desk, I would answer the seemingly endless ringing phones. In many instances, customers had to wait either on the phone or at the front desk for me to find their orders on the computer, even after they showed me where it was on the menu. During lunch hours, the pressure was even…

    2. While being on ASB, I would love to better the students’ source of motivation. We as (Your School's Name) students want to exceed the limit of excellence, because that is what is required of us, and what we are capable of. My theory is that if someone believes that they are going to be rewarded, whether it be with physical objects or even a couple of encouraging words, they will try their hardest to achieve whatever it is. For example, some students will try so hard to get good grades, so that their parents can be proud or give them a prize, but either will get the desired result. Which is why I think a good project would be a weekly raffle, with… Rewards! The students could be rewarded for good grades, perfect attendance, doing something that was appreciated; the list could go on and on. This will encourage the students to go above and beyond what is expected of them.…

I always keep this poem and picture in my wallet. I take it everywhere with me because it means quite a lot to me in two very different ways. One of those ways is because it holds sentimental value. When I was younger I learned to read very late in life and I was always so embarrassed of that. My father knew that I was struggling and bought me the book, Where the Sidewalk Ends. It is a book full of poems and little pictures written by Shel Silverstein. I remember opening the book to ta random page, and it was the page with this poem. I then remember my dad asking me to read it to him. I was so uncomfortable, even thought I was just going to be reading to my dad. He gave me some words of encouragement, and even thought I was not able to read…
