Phil bravely states that he will not tell me what I want to hear; he seems to revel in his “I call it as I see it; I will tell you the truth” philosophy. Effective weight control will never be “quick and easy”, but that is “doable”. His book espouses a philosophy that is brilliant in its simplicity. He includes a wealth of self-analysis in the form of assessments, timelines, goal setting, readiness profiles and action plans. His book incorporates concrete details for daily planning and food action plans, which include a specific system of meal planning that is widely used by dietitians and health organizations. He describes a divided-plate system for meal planning: ¼ protein, ¼ starch, and ½ low-calorie, high-fiber plant-based food—fruits and vegetables.…

Some people think that the butterfly stroke looks like an easy swimming stroke with both arms coming out of the water at the same while gliding their body over the water, but they are wrong. It's actually one of the most difficult strokes. When my heat of swimmers was called for the event of the 50 yard butterfly, I stood behind the start block getting ready to swim butterfly and to do my best. The announcer then gave us the signal to get up on the starting block. Once everyone was on the block they said, “Take your mark”. As I got ready to get into the start position. I relaxed and slowly gripped the bottom of the block tightly, then positioned my foot one over the edge and the other behind. Then as I got ready to jump off I lunged forward…

First I had to determine my daily requirements by using a calorie calculator. I was able use the weight loss calculator to determine the time and calorie deficit required to reach my target weight. For my optimal weight loss I reduced my calories to 15-20% below maintenance. When I did not make progress I increased this later, the larger my deficit produced, the quicker my body caught on. I learn that my first step should be to increase my activity levels. By me creating a larger calorie deficit, I had to exercise, cardio to burn calories, resistance training to maintain muscle mass.…

Number 1: The three main events of the story would have to be the 8th night; the night in which the murder occurs. 2 when the narrator kills the old man. 3rd when the police arrive at the scene. I think that the eighth night was an important event in the story because it was the only night out of the 7 before that the old man had his eye open. That’s important because without the eye the narrator did not have the courage to kill the old man. The narrator killing the old man is killed, is a huge development because it liberates the audiences suspense , because it lets them know that its finally over , and that he was able to complete the task and get rid of the old man’s evil eye. The police arriving at the scene is important for the development…

Last year I was prit near 375 lbs and I knew something had to give. I have tried, low fat, low cal, counting macros and everything. I always still would gain! I would eat veggies and lean meat keeping under 1200 calories sometimes 800 when frustrated, I'd still wake up weighing more. Well to be honest, I believe the food pyramid is very, very inaccurate. I sometimes watch shows like my 600 lb life, for motivation for myself, because I need it still! I was to a point in my life I couldn't walk or stand more than 5 minutes! I'd have to sit on a chair to do dishes, I felt useless anymore honestly. One day something clicked and I seen a friend who posted about her 210 lb weight loss and started to read. I was blown away! I started it and I won't lie, I went out with a bang! Made a huge chocolate cake 13x9 and we ate half of it. I canned the rest. Within the first 3 days I was 5 lbs down! I couldn't believe it, without any exercise! People say oh you can't do that, but you can! You simply have to eat the RIGHT foods! 60% carbs isn't for us! That's what was set up by a group of people who think they know everything! They don't! But anyways if you want to learn how to eat the correct macros and learn to lose weight without worry, then this is for you! Ooh you have to give up some things! But tell yourself YOU'RE WORTH IT! I know what it feels like to hurt everyday and not be able to function and go out to the store cause you just cannot walk.…

If I can go 27 years with this and be, for the most part, completely fine then how can there be any doubt to anyone that the human heart is just a remarkable machine? Most of the human body is fascinating and can take your breath away as you study it and learn how it functions, but no other organ in the body displays the sheer determination and resiliency that the heart does. To be able to function nonstop, without ever once failing, for over 100 years is just mind boggling. No human machine ever conceived could compare to the human heart. It will do its absolute best to always take care of you so why in the name of everything that is good would you not try to return the favor and take care of…

And eventually died of kidney failure. Before she died, she told me to get myself checked. Now I have not been to a Doctor in years for fear they would know I was a drug addict. After she died, I thought to myself, I should get checked, after all, I had nothing to fear now (because I was drug free). The Doctor said that I had high blood pressure for quite some time, without treating, it caused Cardiomyopathy, which is an enlarged heart, and it is failing. I also had diabetes. Whether this is drug induced or hereditary I will never know for sure. However, it was time to take care of myself. It was not long after that my health began to fail noticeably; I could not do the work that I used to, or as efficiently either. By this time, I was with the company so long, that they promoted me to Safety Director. Now in this position, I did not have to work as hard physically. Four years ago, my heart began to fail even more and required a pacemaker and defibrillator. The only function I could do at work after a while, was teaching. I was not able to go on the jobsites any longer because I had to carry oxygen with…

Tears stained my face as I contemplated the outcome. I could barely imagine what life would be like on the other side of this tragedy. My eyes squeezed shut, and I wished everything would go back to normal. My grandfather had recently been admitted to the Lancaster General Hospital suddenly, with the diagnoses of Congestive Heart Failure. He only had a few weeks to live, if he didn’t consent to have open heart surgery. A new heart valve was a lifeline for my Pop-pop (that’s what we call him). The blood flow weakened inside of my Pop-pop’s veins, and our only hope was an artificial heart valve, harvested from a cow.…

During this time of extreme suffering God would continually tell me, “Donna you will be better at the end of this then you were going into it. And, be thankful you are not paralyzed.” The MRI was extremely painful for me. The MRI machine vibrates and the vibration sent my body into unexplainable horrid pain. I lost feeling in my entire right arm during the testing. I had peace in my heart, but pain in my body. During the night I slept little because of all the pain. I was on painkillers, but they did not help. The drugs made me sluggish and not myself, but did not take the pain away. During the night while I was up I would pray.
