Personal Narrative: My Greatest Failure
I had a lot of failures in my short lifetime. Some of the failures I have done have done a lot of good for me. I am a person that likes to do a lot of things and with a lot of things to do; there is a lot of failures that comes with it. The biggest thing I like to do is play basketball. With basketball a lot of the greats had found failure before they became the biggest hero in sports. This essay is about things I have failed at and how they turned into success moments.
The first thing I can remember is when I wanted to be the biggest pro basketball player there is in the future. I use to wake up in the morning and go for runs. I use to go outside and play for hours every single day and when it’s not summer, I couldn’t wait to go home so I can drop my bag at the door

You can’t just go in the game expecting to do well if you haven’t put the time or the heart into it. The game takes a lot of your time and if you have a job or a big schedule, then you might as well not even try to play. Also it’s a game to show how big of an appetite for success you have. All the work that you put into it will show in the game and the better you do the better you want to get. That builds an appetite for success not just only for basketball but for life also.
I stopped playing basketball is all. That was the worst feeling in the whole entire world.
Basketball was everything to me. I didn’t want to go a day without it but the schedule I had and the things I had to do I never could make time for it. I not only had to go days without looking at a basketball, I had to stop playing it in all. A game that I truly loved had to just stop so suddenly. One day I was in class and I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. I got a sheet of paper out and I started to draw out what was on my mind. I didn’t pay any attention to it but after I got done it looked pretty good, even someone behind me said that they loved it. I was thinking and started asking myself “is this

I have been playing basketball basically my whole life, it is has shaped me into the person I am today. I started with just a ball and a hoop in my cousins front yard. I would just chuck the ball at hoop for fun, horsing around with my cousins. In elementary and middle school I would play with my friends at recess shooting around, dribbling in circles for the fun of it. I was even better then most of the boys who would play with my group on the courts. When I entered high school that was when I realized I was truly in love with the game. High school was where it was taken to a whole 'nother level. I was introduced to the real dynamics of the sport, it was where I learned that if I really want to do something that I love I had to put my all into it. I had to prove that I was one-hundred percent committed to the game. Practicing everyday for two hours, and…

    a. Playing men’s basketball in college was a wonderful opportunity for me on several levels. It provided an opportunity that pushed me to work harder than I have ever worked before and it challenged me, mentally and physically. Playing college basketball taught me how to work hard, even when the results may not be immediate, or visible, right away. From this experience, I learned how to compete on the daily basis, while at the same time working together with my team to push each other to become better as a unit.…

I sat there, riding home from a football game finding myself spacing off thinking about basketball. basketball is starting soon and i cant help thinking about getting to play varsity. I miss the smell of the gym right before a basketball game and the feel of the basketball grooves. I actually kind of miss the bad tasting water from the school water fountain. One thing that I miss the most about basketball is the feeling of trying your hardest and succeeding at it.…

I have never been one to deal with failure very well, so when it hit me square in the face I definitely had a lot to learn. I have always been pretty athletic and very competitive, so when I was asked to join the volleyball team I was more than thrilled. However, after just a few practices I could tell that this was not going to be the same level of competition I was used to. Not only was I the shortest one on the team (which in volleyball was definitely a disadvantage), but I was easily the least experienced. My mom had been an outstanding player in high school, so I elicited some help from her. I practiced and practiced until I got to the point where I could at least compete with some of the other girls.…

“I’ve failed over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed”. This is a quote by Michael Jordan, the best basketball player in NBA history. I look up to Michael Jordan and I know that he never even thought about quitting in life, so no matter how much I fail I will never quit. I am known for how much love and passion I have for basketball. My love for the game is equal to romeo’s love for juliet, it is to die for. I am always first to practice, I put in hours in the gym every day. Whenever I get a little lazy I wash my face, get my head straight, and continue to grind.I am always motivated, if you let me play for you I will not only motivate myself, but I will motivate the rest of my team as…
