Basketball Scholarship Appeal

I am definitely the best player that you, John Calipari can take to play on your basketball team this upcoming season. Three reason why I think I am best fit to play for your team is my work ethic is unbelievable, my grades have improved a lot, and I am very skilled and believe I can compete with anyone in the nation. These are the things one needs to succeed in the NCAA. I am always able to motivate myself when I make a mistake or if I’m going through a slump, not many players can do that. My grades may have been poor throughout high school but I have improved my marks drastically. I think that I can compete with any player at the college level. I might be from Canada, but my heart and skill outweighs that of any basketball player you may select. I will work as hard as a full time labourer. These are the reasons why I think I am the best fit for your team.

“I’ve failed over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed”. This is a quote by Michael Jordan, the best basketball player in NBA history. I look up to Michael Jordan and I know that he never even thought about quitting in life, so no matter how much I fail I will never quit. I am known for how much love and passion I have for basketball. My love for the game is equal to romeo’s love for juliet, it is to die for. I am always first to practice, I put in hours in the gym every day. Whenever I get a little lazy I wash my face, get my head straight, and continue to grind.I am always motivated, if you let me play for you I will not only motivate myself, but I will motivate the rest of my team as

Many people want to believe they are the best and if they aren’t they should just give up. Derek Jeter once said “ there may be people who have more talent than you, but there’s no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do - and I believe that.” This quote is known as one of the most inspirational quotes for athletes. Jeter’s quote has been applied to the lives of many athletes, especially Jessica Long, Babe Ruth, and himself. . It has affected those individuals in different ways and taught them different things. Each athlete has had a rough patch or difficulty in their sport(s) but they knew that they had to work at it instead of just giving up. That is what made these three good athletes.…

“Do your job.” A simple quote by Bill Belichick (New England Patriots Head Football Coach) but this quote means a lot about my character. The reason it means a lot to me is because if you work tremendously hard and do your job your team will be successful. My head football coach, Mike Rowe uses this quote as well and adds “If everybody does your job you will be successful. Trust your teammates since they will fight for you and the rest of the team.” I am tying this quote to football but it can be used in any team sport you are involved in. Football teaches character and that’s why I love it so much. I’ve learned so much about myself and how I want to live my life just from being in football.…

“Never give up on your dreams.” That was one of the first things Kobe Bryant said to me. Many people look at Kobe and say he’s a perfectionist. Yeah, maybe a little bit, but if he weren’t would he have ended up where he is today. The first time I met Kobe Bryant was January 19, 2008 in Los Angles California at the Staples Center. My cousin Shawn Marion was on the opposing team the Phoenix Suns, so it was easy for me to go onto the court and meet Kobe. I remember the energy in the arena was unbelievable. As the Los Angles Lakers ran onto the court the fans in the arena were standing on…

Being one of my high school’s student leaders, both on and off the court, both inside and outside the classroom and both inside and outside my immediate community, has taught me that family is first, consistency is key, and consensus on the one common goal ensures success. As the captain of my Freshman Basketball team and now as the Head Manager of my Varsity Women’s Basketball team, this lesson has been learned over and over again in the past four years. I carry this with me everywhere I go. In each organization I am a member of and with every experience, focusing on family, consistency, and common goal is what has allowed me to motivate others as a leader to realize success. Hundreds of basketball games has taught me that success is not…

This quote has been the foundation for my father's belief that team sports teach commitment. When I started middle school my father insisted that I do a team sport. At the time I had been riding horses for many years and was facing a fork in the road and had to make a big decision. At 11 years old I changed the course of my life by joining a team sport in which I have learned the value of personal commitment, strong leadership skills, and how to challenge myself to achieve both mine and my teammates’ goals.…

Even though I am considered a skilled and impressive player, the game I love is all about failure. Players that fail seventy percent of the time are considered to be the best in the world. So this is where I developed the skill of mental toughness that I apply in life and baseball. In the summer of 2016, my high school baseball team made it to the state playoffs where the top teams played. College coaches were at the games along with hundreds of other fans. This quote could also apply to basketball, immature basketball players don’t accept their role if they are not the star player and want to take hero shots all the time.
