Every basketball player tries hard and gives his/her the best on the court because of high motivation and possible opportunities in the future. Those opportunities lie in playing for the National Basketball Association (NBA), considered to be the premier men's professional basketball league in the world with highly talented individuals. Generally every basketball player in the world dreams of being part of an NBA team even for a minute. But, of the court, the question is whether their college education should be relevant for playing in NBA. NBA high school draftees are players who have been drafted to the NBA straight out of high school, a process is known as going prep-to-pro. The new collective bargaining agreement requires that players must be at least 19 years old. There have been numerous talented players who have joined professional basketball league without attending college. …show more content…
Students learn to deal with problems, and learn to accomplish their goals, and learn to complete their obligations. Also college life helps the individual to learn to respect the authority and to get used to working an average of six hours per day. Of course, a player can learn this skills after joining a professional team. Also, no one can predict when injuries will happen, and a player who devoted his life to basketball may regret not ensuring his future by going to college and getting a degree. There are many examples of NBA players who graduated from college. Jeremy Lin is a Harvard graduate; Michael Doleac has a Master's degree in Physics; Adonal Foyle has a Master's degree in sports psychology. In addition, Chris Dudley graduated with degrees in political science and economics; Shaquille O'Neal earned a Master's degree in Business Administration; and, Emeka Okafor had 4.0 GPA when he received his degree in
