Personal Narrative: My First Game Loss
First game loss may project outlook for rest of season, however the ladies still may hold a chance with a few veteran varsity players and an experienced coach. On Tuesday, November 8, varsity fell 47-63 against Castle. jv followed with a 24-28 loss as well. During the varsity game, Tabby Clem lead the stand with 18 points, and during the jv game, Kat Dickinson had 16 rebounds, abolishing the problem they had rebounding during the Scrimmage on Saturday.
On Saturday, November 4, the team participated in a scrimmage against Mater Dei. The game was set into 5 quarters, 12 minutes each. The first two were played by varsity, the third and fourth were played by jv, and during the fifth quarter, varsity played in an attempt to pull a win, which never came. In the end, the ladies lost 2-3.

She said, “Despite it being our first game in all, we played well. We ran plays smoothly and all worked well together. We definitely will be working on zone defense and rebounding, because during the game we really lacked those skills. The junior varsity played just as well even though they are the youngest team we’ve had for ten years. Coach pushes us to work hard every practice, and that’s what we all need in order to reach the next level and win our games.”
The beginning of the season for some teams is very enduring, but for the Lady Titans, they are quite used to it. The early season called for many after school conditioning practices and drills. During a regular practice, the ladies do drills such as dribble pass, layups, diagonals, two on two rebounding, and ladders.     There were many reasons why the Varsity team began losing to the JV team. It initially started when Coach P. finalized the teams, and soon raced against one another. In their first exhibition run, as expected the Varsity prevailed, but there were a few members of the varsity team that were not satisfied with the win. Rather than brainstorming ways they could do to improve as team, they were very egotistic in their ways, and because they were the best out of the bunch, they should have won by a larger margin. Also, the JV had this mind set of having nothing to lose; this alone gave the team the drive to be better as a team which essentially made them faster and more in sync, unlike the Varsity team. While the JV team is helping one another out, the Varsity continued pointing fingers at one another claiming that it was another teammates fault for being in the position they are in, and saying things along the line of “I’ve been carrying this boat alone.” Not only does that make you arrogant, it makes the rest of team feel as if their efforts are not good enough help the team reach their goals.
