Personal Narrative: Marble Troubles
As my mom, Alex, Donna, and I drove in the warm car turning the A.C. on max, I looked out of my window and then decided it was going to be a long drive, two hours so I start playing on my mom’s phone. What felt like five hours was two. But finally we had arrived.

Once we pulled up to the Hilton we parked our car and then walked in. There were polished marble floors. We took are key and the went up to our room to put are bags down. I looked out our window and saw the bright yellow sun sparkling on the ocean. I could hear the waves. We got on our bathing suits and went to the pool and saw a hot tub and heard that it was one of four. First thing I do is ask my mom if i can go in.
“Sure,” my mom exclaimed. I got right in the hot tub is so

Cayden was excited to see her friend. She loved the drive to Charleston, with the lush green trees and the warm scent in the air. All of a sudden,Cayden’s car shuddered, like one does when cold. Cayden thought this was odd, as her car was brand new. Her car shuddered again, as she passed the sign that said, “Gas Next 40 Miles.” Her eyes flashed to the screen in her car which read, “Empty.” She thought of her mother saying, “Don’t forget to stop for gas before your head out.” Cayden’s car came to a rolling stop.…

Turning off the ignition, I heaved a sigh of relief to unwind from the nerve-wracking experience. A thought crept its way to the front of my mind, disturbing my relaxed state; I was driving. I had dreamt of this since I was a tyke in lower school, and here I was, driving myself to school. While I would assuredly enjoy the freedom driving offered, the feeling was anti-climactic. It was not everything I had chalked it up to be. Why is it, that after so many years of dreaming, the former magic of driving had vanished? Now it was just a means of achieving a vague sense of independence. After a moment’s pause, I finally concluded that I was older. Somewhere, between here and there, I had grown up just a…

I saw the blur of black before I heard the screech of my tires on the scorching summer concrete. The crunching sound of metal on metal rang through my ears. I felt the frigid cold of my dairy treat hit my bare legs. My body jerked as the car swerved towards the highway. 1 hour earlier, 9:00 pm on a mundane Friday night, I was lounging around with my closest friend when an idea popped into my mind. “We should go get Dairy Queen!” I suggested to Gracie, my weary friend next to me. She gave me a cheshire smile and we were off. Little did we know, things were about to head downhill. Literally.…

When I open the door it was like a home filled with love and purity my ideal home it was just perfect. As soon as u walk in you see an average size kitchen on the right and a big bathroom with a bedroom on the left and when you keep walking straight there is a living room and a balcony with the most spectacular view of the pier and upstairs there is a bathroom and two rooms. For the first week or so it felt like I was in heaven waking up in the morning and looking upon the whole town covered in fog going to the rocks and looking for crabs, snails, and shells. One day we decide to go to the ocean and although it was cold we went and started searching for shells and then we found something that I happen to know what it was but never actually felt it alive and fresh out the water. I picked it up and showed it to my friend and we started running to the apartments and showed everyone what we found, everyone had their mouths open and started to touch it. There was a tiny voice that started to say to put the purple starfish back because it deserves to live and so i went back and tried to go as deep as I can to lay it down so no one will harm it. For many days we went to the beach till sunrise to sunset watching the tides rise and decrease and seeing the…

I remember driving to school for my first day of 3rd grade, and my mom beginning to utter her typical speech that was becoming more and more repetitive of late. “You’re growing up so fast,” she said. “Times are changing.” “I miss how it once was.” Parents tend to pull this dialogue out of their back pockets when things start to change even in the slightest, but in my case it simply didn’t apply.…

One very long month later, everyone's bags were packed and we was off to Tennessee! After five lengthy hours and passing through a time zone, I spotted the breathtaking view of Nashville. As we entered our hotels parking lot, I got out of the car and stared in awe of all the bright colorful lights and building against the dark night sky. It was stunning. My family and I walked into the hotel to be greeted by a welcoming smile from the lady behind the desk. We got our room keys and went to out room. It was decorated with pictures of guitars and a warm welcoming goldish yellow wallpaper. Although it was already nine o'clock, our night had just began.…

We were almost through the state of North Carolina as we traveled on Interstate 95. It was rush hour and you could tell everyone was antsy and excited to get home. Cars traveled at 80 miles per hour, and some were even traveling faster than that. I could now see why it was ranked the fifth worst highway in North America. Cars were weaving in and out of traffic at over 90 miles per hour. Traffic was getting heavy. Listening to the radio, my dad and I sang along to a familiar song we both knew, “Yeah” by Usher. “Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!”, we both sang while he drove. My dad always loved this song, so we had the radio turned almost all the way up. The song ended and we turned the radio down. We had already been on the road for ten hours so we were beginning to get a little tired. It was almost 5:00 in the evening and we did not eat lunch, so we were both getting hungry as well. “Where do you want to stop for dinner?”, I asked him. My dad looked at the food signs next to the highway as I looked up places on my phone where we could grab a bite. Just as I was about to name off a few places where we could go, my phone flew out of my hand and my head jolted forward.…

As the bell rang, my friends and I ran out of the classroom, and we were so happy. We don’t need to stand there for so long and play drums, because we found an excuse to be out as usual. At this moment, the weather is cold, and we cannot see any light through the window at three o’clock. Maybe something bad will happen, but we have never thought about that.…

I then left my hotel room and started to explore the hotel. I was on the top floor of the hotel so I took an elevator down to the lobby area. When I was walking around the only sound of life I saw was these guys talking to each other, but I couldn’t understand a word they said. So I left to go check their outdoor swimming pool. I knew something was going to go wrong at the swimming pool and I was right.…

I leaned toward the window where my pillow was pressed against the car door. I watched the lightning a few miles to away from the car as it lit up the mountains. Compass by Zella Day played through my headphones as I sat up to look through the windshield. I took my headphones out and my friend/cousin, Amaya, sat up excitedly in her seat. It was the first time she’d ever taken this trip. The city lights below sparkled. Amaya’s mom, JoAnn, and our uncle Bill played songs from “their time” as we drove down toward Las Vegas.…

When we arrived at the hotel I was amazed by all the actives it offered. There was a warm sandy beach, man of war in the sea, and fish of all colors swimming. There was a lady braiding hair on the beach and I simply had to have her do my hair. My parents informed me that we would be having dinner at the bar in the hotels restart. The same bartenders Nation and Manny were still there just as they had been every year. I was told to charge anything I wanted to the room. I soon discover that there was a bar you could sit at from inside the pool. I noticed crowds gathering around at certain times during the day. I quickly noticed there was Bingo games going on and there were prizes be given away. I frequently joined in on the games.…

Later that morning, in the sunlit dining hall, breakfast was being severed. My group sat at the table we sat at the night before. As I started to eat my tater-tots , the events from yesterday filled my mind. My group went snorkeling, both day and night, I could still feel the cold water soak my wetsuit. I remembered that Mr. Lacey, our principal, announced that the school would be leaving today because of a storm. I was disappointed because I payed for three days instead of two,but at least I was having fun.…
