Only if they make space food tastier. Now I’m about to be one of many so-called “grown-ups” and I finally have the answer. I want to help people. I will help people. Everyone is asked one question, at a very young age. That question is: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” There isn’t a time I can remember when an adult didn’t ask me this question. When I was six, I would respond with the usual movie star, fashion designer, or veterinarian. My answer would be said confidently, as at this age I walked through life as if it were no big deal. My answer occasionally changed to fit with my many childhood phases, but my view on the question stayed the same. When I was a child, I replied to this inquiry the same way everyone else did; I answered with an occupation. It took me years to discover my new approach to this question. My new response did not include my dream job, but how I saw myself in the future.…

For my first biology test I received a grade that I am not proud of. To be completely honest the night before the test I attended a concert and didn’t get to sleep until two in the morning. This optical is defiantly something that I could have avoided. I should not have attended the concert, or at least I should have prepared myself weeks in advance knowing that I had a concert the night before. This is my second time taking the class and I expected better out of myself. I made the same mistake I did last year by not studying till the week of the test. Another obstacle was my interest, I am not interested in the topics we are discussing but as a student I need to ignore preference and work on doing my best. Most biology test is memory based…

When I was fifteen, my mother hauled along two of my friends and I, to a reunion in Phillips, Wisconsin. The whole way to the reunion I was thinking about how thankful I was to have friends with me, to help me escape from the cheek pulling and "cutesy-wootsing", I would receive from the relatives. At the reunion the adults talked among themselves and the children played together. If at this time I would have realized how important my ancestors were, maybe I would have chose to listen in with the adults? I do not think so. After returning from the reunion my mother showed me an old picture of a man that she said was the Czar of Finland, and that I was in fact related to royalty. After some research I figured out the facts for myself.…

I found dreams I never knew I would want to accomplish so desperately, which is another reason I started taking college classes my senior year through a running start program. I have found myself valuing all of my work and dedication much more, because being independent has definitely been a beautiful episode that forced me to be an adult. I see myself going to a four-year school and find a job where i can operate with kids and people facing struggles. I love sociology and have always thought of myself working to help others. I have started a new passion towards history and society change over time which has made me strongly perplexed about a career choice. As a young child, I tended to become ill often. The doctors blamed my weak immune system on the fact that I contracted mononucleosis and was hospitalized for two months at a young age. The consensus was that over time my immune system would improve and I would outgrow any other issues. I continued to get very ill with bleeding sores constantly lining my mouth and throat throughout my elementary schooling. I noticed my condition was drastically worsening as I ended my sophomore year of highschool. I entered my junior year chronically ill. I missed over thirty percent of the year due to being so ill. I went almost all of junior year teaching myself the information my peers were able to learn in class. I became so physically tired that even getting out of bed was exhausting. I was living with such pain that my parents decided to seek the top…

I did not learn my communicating skills until I took my microbiology class. I had to do a project on sexual transmitted diseases (STD) and it required meeting after class. Being shy and not confident enough, I didn’t want to meet my group. Dr. Nande called me one day because some of my group partners complained to him. I stood in front of him looking down nervously on what he was going to say. He read my body language and just said that I can either tell him what the problem is or I can take a zero. At the moment, I had a flash back of my classmate when he was expressing his problem to my English teacher in high school. My first word that came out of my mouth was to Dr. Nande that I want to do the project on my own. But he said that it would…

Eventually, after all the hard work and time spent on doing lines, writing essays, creating videos, and filling out endless applications. I started seeing results, why? Thanks to the government that helped paid for my school. Scholarships including financial aid that went from saying “You were NOT selected as an applicant” to “Congratulations! We appreciate your interest and applaud for your accomplishments”. I believe that it has been an overall great experience, because what they want you to do, it’s simple STUDY. Evertyhing that they do for you is consider your academic, leadership and community service achievements. If I was to…
