This phase is the most critical phase of the five phases, because all other phases are based on this one. The leaders in this phase define the problem to be solved by the methodology or the situation to be improved thru creating a charter and a clear view of the process (DMAIC – The 5 Phases of Lean Six Sigma, 2015). in this phase the administration of the health affairs is concerned with the quality of the medical care provided, from surgeries, checkup and to the services. Patients must have the full medical care within the specified time without unnecessary delays.
The second phase is measurement of the process of providing the service Measures can be detected by many statistical tools (DMAIC – The 5 Phases of Lean Six Sigma, 2015). There must a consideration made to the start point of the process and searching for root causes of the process. Since these are the essentials of healthcare quality factors, the six sigma will be very helpful in improving the quality factors of the National Guard health affairs’ city. Also in applying the six sigma to the medical cities, it will focus on the process of providing the appropriate healthcare to patients, alongside the operational processes (Bisk, 2015). These improvements are a result of the deep understanding provided by six sigma methodology to the patients’ needs.
