B. As well as serving nature's interests, they are simply magnificent creatures capable of so much.

I. (Solution) There are ways to help in the effort to save our mountain lions.
A. The Mountain Lion Foundation based in Sacramento, California raises money, and contributes towards plans to save our mountain lions. They readily take donations and any other form of help.
B. Second, don't buy into the deception that is put forth by the media turning cougars into serial killers. This is far from the truth.
C. We as humans also need to try to prevent from developing previously uninhabited land. This is the largest cause of habitat loss for all wild animals. And as stated before, if we move onto cougar territory we are bound to encounter them at

Iconic African species are declining at a startling speed because of unsustainable hunting. Consider the African lion for example. Their numbers have reduced from approximately 450,000 in the 1940s to 200,000. Furthermore Oxford University research shows that by 2035, the number of lions will likely be decreased by a further 50%. Trophy hunters contribute to this decline by killing around 105,000 animals every year. the original intention of trophy hunters was to control healthy populations of individual species. Numbers were managed under the guise of culling. However, the trophy hunters never stopped hunting even when healthy numbers were achieved, and the trophy hunting has become a status symbol for the wealthy, especially in Asia.…

“Cecil the Lion Killed By American Dentist” was the headline that rekindled the controversial debate over trophy hunting. This debate is better represented by Goodwell Nzou’s article “In Zimbabwe We Don’t Cry For Lions” than in the passage by Alexis Crosswell “5 Reasons Why Trophy Hunting is Not Conservation.” Trophy hunting is the killing of animals specifically for the purpose of keeping a portion of the animal as a prize. Since the death of Cecil the Lion, the sport has come under significant fire from the media and sparked heated argument. Nzou has the stronger argument than Crosswell’s specifically because: it recognizes that humans personify deadly animals, the writer of “In Zimbabwe We Don’t Cry For Lions” has personal experience with the subject and that Goodwell Nzou explains that American priorities are more concerned with animals than starving people.…

In the 1940s ecologist Aldo Leopold penned his now famous essay “Thinking like a Mountain.” In his youth Leopold killed a wolf, but with reflection and wisdom that comes with age, he realized that wolves played a critical role in the interaction between prey species like deer and elk and plant communities. After seeing how too many deer and elk can strip a mountain of its vegetation, Leopold lamented that we needed to learn to think like a mountain — in other words, have a long-term view of the ecological role and value of predators.…

To do our part in keeping balance to the populations we’ve offset. As Kristof put it “it’s an abdication of environmental responsibility to eliminate other predators and then refuse to assume the job ourselves. In that case, the collisions with humans will simply get worse.” I also found myself in compliance with Kristof’s assumption that people these days would look at hunting more as a barbaric action rather than a necessary one for ecological balance. Looking at both sides of the opinion of hunting in today’s society the authors makes it clear that he doesn’t expect the idea to make sense to people who may hold an ignorant stance when challenged with his proposal. Kristof was sure to include this when talking about where people may stand on this topic in an everyday life setting “Granted, hunting isn’t advisable in suburban backyards, and I don’t expect many soccer moms to install gun racks in their minivans.” I believe his humorous tone while explaining his opinion of the need to kill animals in to achieve positive environmental results is appropriate in the way he expresses the logical irony of his claim. A Claim made strong by ending it with a real example of how this problem can literally come crashing into our homes of not dealt with in the right way, the way the Author deemed as a logical…

Levy focuses her article on the importance of wolf family values, and the importance of wolves in an ecosystem. She also uses an ethical appeal by arguing that “The hunting of wolves warps their social structure, ripping apart family ties and traditions that define wolf society.” Levy connects to her audience’s moral values of family and traditions that not only humans have but wolves too. By explaining that hunting wolves are harming the structure of wolf society, she also expresses the effects it has on the ecosystem. Levy states that “ Older wolves pass knowledge down to younger pack members, and that human hunting disrupts this natural order.” This statement explains that by us, humans, killing of wolf packs and not protecting the wolf population it is unbalancing the natural order of life. Throughout her article Levy continues to plead her case as to why we should protect the pack. She uses two different types of wolves, a grey wolf pack from Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, and eastern wolf pack from Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. Both of these studies showed that “intact wolf packs boost the diversity of plants and songbirds, and increase populations of beaver and amphibians, all by limiting the numbers and grazing patterns of elk and other large…

African Lions are motivated, powerful, muscular, brave, and courageous. They have the willingness to fight and the ability to survive in the wild. Comparatively, sometimes I fear that I am quite different. I feel myself to be weak and fragile and to lack motivation and sometimes bravery. I would like if I shared the traits of motivation, power, strength and bravery that the African Lion displays. The bravery and respect that an African lion receives is reason enough for me to want to be an African Lion and to be a part of a pride.…
