Mountain Gorilla Research Paper
Mountain Gorilla

Biological name: Gorilla beringei beringei

Habitat:
Currently the mountain gorillas are protected national parks in two regions of Africa. One part of the gorillas live in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. The other group of Gorillas are spread over three national parks in the Virungas mountain. Any left over Gorillas live in lowland rainforests or mountainside forest
Population:

The mountain gorillas population has gone up and down throughout the years.
But in 1989 there was around 620 individual gorillas but the number has increased to 880 today.

Their need of land to cultivate has reduced the forest size. These forests are where the the gorillas live and their home is getting destroyed so they have nowhere to go and they eventually die leaving the population of this animal lowering.
As many as 15 Gorillas have had been killed since the outbreak of the civil war in 1950. Between 1990-1994 a large number of refugees fed camps at the edge of Virunga National park where most Gorillas were kept. When they fled they killed 4 Gorillas while they did it.

How can we help?

I believe that we should have more awareness towards making sure that gorillas have a safe and protected environment to live. Whether it's a national park for all of them to stay or a protected part of the forest.

What you can do?
A simple way to help them is to spread awareness is to tell your family and friends all about the Mountain Gorillas this will spread the word about them and more people will want to donate. You can adopt or donate to the wwf which sends the money to Africa to helps the Mountain Gorilla have a better life. After hearing all these human impacts I want to make a difference who knows maybe your donation can help save a life of a Gorilla:

Around 10,000 to 50,000 bonobos are found in the humid forests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. However, this is only an estimate. According to Grahm-Rowe Duncan (2004), not a single bonobo was spotted in one of the largest surveys of the Congo; making the bonobo an endangered species. Some factors that contribute to the endangerment of this species include habitat destruction and poachers killing the animal for its bush meat. The latter factor is attributed to the civil war that is currently going on in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and its border conflicts with Rawanda. This has created large hunting pressures. Rebel groups and poachers find it easy to hide in the protected parks and kill the bonobo to make money from their bush meat, while others simply kill the animal to survive (Duncan, 2004). As a result, the bonobo is on the verge of extinction and conservation efforts to save this animal must be increased.…

It has a very limited mountain range habitat. Because their mountain range habitat is very limited in water supplies. They are dying from thirst just as much as starvation. Another thing that they want to do is monitor the tigers by making sure that they stay healthy and that the places that they rome will have enough prey for them to live off of. The last major thing that they want to do is help the countries stop tiger poaching and selling, by working with an organization called TRAFFIC, they will help make sure that all of the animals stay out of harm's way. The only organization that is capable and willing to do all of this is an organization called the World Wildlife Fund(WWF). Their mission is to, “Conserve nature and reduce the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth”(WWF).
