Executive summary:

M3p bikes corporation is a bicycle manufacturing company that provides products and services to the local community of Sydney NSW. Our production plant manufactures a variety of bicycles which we sell to customers through a variety of retailers & wholesalers including bike shops, sport shops & discount stores.

The main idea of the strategy is to take the middle route in regards to marketing, operations & finance. This way, we would not be lagging in any sector, and thus no other firm can take advantage of us in any sector. By marketing sure we have reputable investments in advertisement, public relations, distribution and etc, we would be able to watch the market and pounce on opportunities that may rise, while not worrying about all of our other sectors of business, that s for the very early rollovers (The introduction of mountain bike).

For the next coming years we will be introducing another 2 different types of bikes, Road bike, & youth bike. Each of the 2 bikes will have its own strategy. Our road bike product strategy will be based on high pricing, lower volume and that for the reason Road bike segment are not sensitive to price as other segments some will pay up to 2500$ for the right bike, all what customers care about in this segment is the Quality of the bike. We will not be focusing too much on advertising since this segment focus more on the advice of a sales assistance, word of mouth & Friends past experience. The youth bike segment product strategy will be based on low price, higher volume.

Porter’s five forces indicates whether an industry is attractive based on five factors which are threat of new entrants, bargaining power of buyers, bargaining power of suppliers, threat of substitutes and rivalry between competition. In relation to Mikes Bikes, the threat of new entrant factors which need to be considered for the bicycle industry is to find new and innovative avenues to differentiate your production line, distribution and marketing strategies from current competitors within the industry. This could be done by producing new production lines, enhancing advertising or PR or gaining more distribution stores. The bargaining power of buyers is high due to the low switching cost of substitutes and price sensitive consumers. This can be addressed by pricing products low though increasing production and increase advertising to enhance brand awareness. Bargaining power of suppliers is moderate as bike components are externally sourced therefore external suppliers have power over manufacturers. The threat of substitutes is high for all three different types of bikes within the Mikes Bikes simulation as road bikes can be replaced by cars, youth bikes by scooters and mountain bikes by dirt bikes. Therefore, we will need to highlight the important factors of our products by enhancing advertising and PR thus increasing brand awareness. As competition is high within this industry, we will need to use non-price strategies to differentiate our product such as increase brand awareness.…
