1. Agency Context:

Heaven’s Gate Agency is a non-profit organization that focuses on coordinating children, adolescents, and adults to the appropriate agencies that may be needed to help in cases of financial, psychological, or family programs. The main goal of Heaven’s Gate is to provide services for individuals or families in need of services that they may be in need due to uncontrollable circumstances. In this project, the two students I consulted with Teri Kantor and Linda Moreno. 2. Clients Identifying Data:

A. Jimmy was referred by Jose Alvarez, who is his parole officer. Jimmy was recently released form the California State Penitentiary. Mr. Alvarez has mandated Jimmy to seek services that he needs in order to reestablish him into society and to hamper any chances of a revisit to prison. Along with this, he will be seeking counseling to kindle a relationship with his son. Jimmy will me meeting with a social worker and then a plan of action will be determined in accordance to Jimmy’s needs. B. Presenting Problem:

The main presenting problem with Jimmy is his constant clash with the criminal justice system. Jimmy has run into trouble with the law on more than a few occasions and the goal is to make sure that Jimmy can stay out of trouble with the law and to end his cycle of prison visits. Along with this, Jimmy has no education or job training which makes it hard for him to attain a good job in order to support himself. He is currently living with his parents but wants to get out on his own. Another problem is the fact that he has had minimal contact with his boy who is 4 years of age due to his time spent in prison. He is having trouble stimulating a relationship with his son. Jimmy also has different psychological problems due to the deaths of his brother and his wife. If Jimmy doesn’t continue with this treatment plan that is given, he runs the risk of returning to prison. 4. Identify the onset, etc:

Jimmy’s presenting problem with his trouble with the law became present when he saw hi older bother Jesus killed by the hand of police officers when he was young. Jimmy was very close to his brother which triggered his anger towards the criminal justice system. Since then, he has had trust issues until he met his wife, but she died while given labor. Again, he mentioned that if she had been in a better hospital, that she would have lived which triggered those emotions of hatred towards the system causing him to do what he knows what to do which was to defy the law and commit robbery. In the past, Jimmy would go on with his life as if nothing had happened and never got help for his problems. His family also never talked about the problems with him. Since Jimmy has a hard time dealing with trust, he is having a hard time trying to raise his son as well. Jimmy also tends to intentionally hurt himself in his states of anger. During his last robbery, he intentionally hurt his hand. He also did it in hoping that he would be caught and sent to prison again. 5. What are the client’s feelings about the problem?

Jimmy has two different feelings about the problems. He feels like the criminal justice system is always out to get him and that he is the victim. Since he is mandated to show up, he also feels like it is just another tactic fore the criminal justice system to tell him what to do.
