The MDI campus is lush green and has a dedicated area for various indoor sports and leisure activities . Each leisure area requires a dedicated gardener and each such garden/lawn requires manpower planning to estimate the number of gardeners required in the area.

We analyzed the number of gardeners required to man the gardens of MDI.
After a thorough analysis we concluded that the present number of Gardeners are somewhat overstaffed. The staffing is more appropriate during monsoon and rainy season when there is an overgrowth of grass. In other seasons the number of gardeners required is lesser.
We interviewed a number of gardeners to ascertain their working habits and methodologies. The findings are documented below:

Secondary jobs:

Primary analysis results:
1. Gardeners are normally late and they also are not in their full capacity.

A review of the literature revealed that there continues to be no clear staffing method based of patient acuity for inpatient psychiatric units. More research needs to be conducted once staffing models are developed, but there is a clear need for mental health units to have their own staffing models based on patient acuity (Hanrahan, 2012; McKee, Harrison & Smith, 2006). Research has been conducted on several aspect of how inappropriate staffing levels have an impact on the rate of violence on units, the effects of the level of licensure on staffing and patients, and the types of patient care that is missed when staffing levels are low. Research proves that higher staffing levels during high activity times was associated with few assaults and…

One focus for certain organisations this year has been around budgets and cutting costs where possible. One area where budgets have dramatically tightened is recruitment. This has caused a review of specific methods that are used to attract talent into the business at as minimal cost as possible. It is important to research the ‘best’ method of attracting the ‘right’ individuals to the position; if this is not done correctly it could cause a cost implication due to unsuitable applications being received, and vacancies not being filled. The use of agencies to source talent has reduced dramatically due to the cost impact this has on the business. In order to save costs of recruiting the focus now seems to be on developing talent in-house rather than attracting external talent into the business. This may also, however, have a cost implication to an organisation as, in order to retain and develop existing talent, a review of the company benefits may…
