MPA Career Goals
When I picture my future and where I will be professionally in the years to come, I always have the same vision in mind. I see myself as a leader, aiding and supporting others who are in need. I want the power and accessibility to help others, have an impact on the community, and enact social change for the better. I desire a career in public service. I already have a strong background in management and leadership roles. I have also undertaken volunteer works through different organizations and with my church, which has allowed me to help my community. Earning an MPA graduate degree will only propel me further to reaching my objectives. It will give me the tools I need to become a more effective leader and further my career ambitions.

The personnel in the department share many roles including administrative support, human resources, business administration, and legal management. The knowledge I gain from my work coupled with my graduate degree will only propel me further and help me advance my career.
My goal is to pursue a career in public service in which I can utilize both my training and skills developed through the MPA program. Upon completion of the degree program, I will initially enter at an entry to mid-level position and work my way up to a management or supervisory position. I will pursue a career in government management at the local level. I would like to use my education and knowledge to create and implement public programs through policy development and implementation as well as the successful management of public employees.
While taking my graduate courses I plan to participate in an internship order to become more competitive and gain valuable experience. The internship itself would focus on public policy. I will develop and gain knowledge from experienced professionals. I will discuss various internship options with a Career Development Coordinator to facilitate this process. This will be done immediately after I am accepted into the program since the application process for federal agencies may take a year or longer to
