The Grizzly Bear Lodge Mini Case Owning and operating a lodge can be a lot of work, but rewarding at the same time. Customers come to a lodge to relax and get away from their daily routine. When staying the night away from home, it is important to the customer that the staff at the lodge makes their stay as comfortable as possible. In this case The Grizzly Bear Lodge will be examined. It will look at the service they provide in addition to their expansion opportunities. The Grizzly Bear Lodge is family owned. According to the textbook, Management: Leading and Collaborating in a Competitive World, Diane and Rudy Conrad operate The Grizzly Bear Lodge which accommodates 15 rooms (598). They offer breakfast every day of the week, and provide excellent customer service to their customers by seeing to their every request be met. The Grizzly Bear Lodge is only open for peak seasons (Snell 598). During this time they are exceptionally busy. They have regular customers that enjoy coming. The Conrad’s would now like to expand their lodge. Unfortunately with the income that they make after taking care of bills, payroll, and other necessities, they only have about $70,000 left each year (Snell 598). This does not leave them with many options to purchase more land. They would like to also stay open year round without hindering any of their current specials that they offer, such as a full breakfast on weekends. It is up to them to ensure customer satisfaction. There are many ways that Diane and Rudy can ensure their guests satisfaction. “Feedforward is the control process used before operations begin, including policies, procedures, and rules designed to ensure that planned activities are carried out properly” (Snell 572). Before the Conrad family decides to expand their lodge whether it is by adding more rooms or extending their days of operation, they should look into the feedforward method. This method would be done before they begin

In conducting the SWOT Analysis, the majority of the critical issues are the within the confines of the weakness and threats. However, in addressing some of the strengths of Peaceful Rest one discovers that it is in a prime location that it is growing to be a favorite vacation spot. It is located next to the highway with excellent visibility and easy to get to. Considering the low cost of purchase, Tristan can have low-cost rooms to meet a tighter budget. Jonathan Edwards is one of the most dominant figures in 18th century American religion, a fiery revivalist preacher and a pioneer in the Reformed Church, which would eventually be today's United Church of Christ. The fifth child of Rev. Timothy and Esther Edwards, Jonathan was the only boy in their family of 11 children. He was born in 1703 in East Windsor, Connecticut. Edwards' smartness was noticeable from an early age. He went to Yale before he was 13 years old and graduated as the valedictorian. Three years later he received his master's degree. At the age of 23, Jonathan Edwards succeeded his grandfather, Solomon Stoddard, as pastor of the church in Northampton, Massachusetts. It was the richest and most influential church in the colony, outside of Boston. Jonathan Edwards married Sarah Pierpoint in 1727. They had three sons and eight daughters. Edwards was a key figure in the Great Awakening, a period of religious passion in the middle of the 18th century. Not only did this movement bring people to the Christian faith, but it also influenced the fathers of the Constitution, who guaranteed freedom of religion in the United States.…

The Talented Tenth is a term that was originated in the year 1896 in Northern Missionary Baptist houses. This was designated to describe those few African Americans at the time that had the good fortune of receiving a higher education. From this premise, renowned scholar W.E.B. Dubois further elaborated upon and popularized the concept of the Talented Tenth. Dubois said The Negro Race, like all races, is going to be saved by its exceptional men. The problem of education then must first of all deal with the "Talented Tenth (Dubois 1903). According to Dubois, the Talented Tenth was a group of gifted students who were supported by their surrounding community to achieve higher education. Upon attaining higher education these individuals were supposed to integrate into various sectors of society. Dubois theorized that the Talented Tenth should branch out achieve success in different sectors; particularly the realms of the social, political, and economic. Upon achieving success and acclaim in these respective realms, this group would return to the very communities that they came from. When they returned to their communities they would transform their communities from a grassroots level. In November of 2008, David Hardin developed a mentoring and tutoring program that he named the Talented Tenth Program. The Talented Tenth Program focuses on the importance of education to impoverished and economically disadvantaged youths. One of the means by which this is achieved is through teaching the children about the Talented Tenth and then instilling in them that they are and can be the Talented Tenth. Since November of 2008, the program has worked with more than 45 inner city elementary and middle school students in Atlanta, Georgia. The Talented Tenth program links undergraduate mentor/tutors with elementary and middle school children. The goals of the Talented…

In today’s mainstream, movies often depict situations that reach beyond the boundaries of reality. Movies such as Transformers and Avatar solely provide entertainment. They do not provide a relationship that could occur in everyday life, because they feature creatures beyond known reality. However, movies on the other end of the spectrum, such as P.S. I Love You and A Walk To Remember, show instances that can relate to people. One of the best romantic comedies, Return to Me, a movie about life, family friends, and love portrays instances that people can relate to, making the movie outstanding.…

Love is something that means very different things to different people. For some, love can be purely romantic, or even purely sexual. For others, real love is utterly unconditional and only truly exists between family members, or between people and a deity. And for some people, love is fluid, ever changing, and everywhere, and is felt for family, friends, partners, pets, and even inanimate objects, dead artists, and fictional characters. None of these people would be right or wrong, but one thing is certain: love is the most powerful force in the entire universe.…
